I'll be late for school again," I thought. I jumped out of the bed, washed my face, then hurried to the bus stop without breakfast. As soon as I got on the bus, it started running. "I'm sure I can get to the school on time,"

I said to myself. Suddenly the bus stopped. The bus driver got o仃the bus, then got on the bus again and said, "I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen. There's something wrong with the bus. He turned to the class and said, "I'm vey sorry, my boys and girls." With these words he quickly took off his own jacket and handed it to me. "Now take off your wet coat and put on this one or you'll catch a cold," he said kindly.

There's only one place, and that's Hollywood, in California. The scenes you see from the tourist train are film sets (布景) in the Universal Studios, one of the oldest and largest movie companies in the USA.

But older people mostly stay at home to watch series, like Dynasty, which have become as important to Hollywood as expensive movies. These "soap operas", as they are called, show rich, powerful families living in beautiful homes and wearing beautiful clothes. But the actors and actresses are nearly all middle - aged, like many of the people who watch them.

Though it is soap operas that are keeping the film - makers of Hollywood in Business, big films are still being made in America. But more and more of them are made outside Hollywood. New York is the most important new center, but there are many others as well. Movie - makers have realized that they don't need Hollywood any more. Modem cameras and other equipments are smaller and lighter. They can be taken to film real streets and real houses instead of making copies expensively in a studio.
