二．对比选择型作文

这类题型是四级考试写作中常见的题型之一，它的标志非常明显，非常容易辨别。作文题目的目标比较明确，富有针对性，即直接要求考生比较两种观点或两种做法，进而表明自己对问题或事物的态度（或观点），也就是作出选择。此类题目有下面两种模式：

1．分析观点一的利弊——分析观点二的利弊——作出最佳的选择

2．分析两种观点各自的优点——分析两种观点的不足——作出选择

练习：认真审题，写出下面题目的提纲。

This issue has aroused public concern. Some people hold that it is a wrong and impolite behavior which should be fought against, while others argue that students should not take the blame since colleges fail to provide sufficient study facilities. There is probably some truth in both sides.

As to me, I’m in favor of the former argument. For one thing, occupying seats inevitably worsens the problem of resource shortages. The seats will remain empty until the occupiers come. For another, taking up seats does harm to the harmonious campus atmosphere when friendship and modesty give way to improper competition. Therefore, I strongly oppose this kind of act.

It is in nature a moral rather than a legal issue.

For my part, I think such good deeds as giving up seats to needy people is

truly necessary, but the precondition is that one does this out of true willingness. Only when good deed are based on good will are the good deeds meaningful.

Renting an apartment makes them have a place to stay and thus they can focus on work as well as personal life.

As far as I am concerned, to buy or to rent is all about people’s personal choice. But when the price of housing is standing too high, it will be better to rent first and wait for the good timing when the price is going down to buy.
