Nowadays, it is becoming very urgent that people should be aware of the serious situation of our environment, which is contaminated by waste from our families. Some people claim that this problem can be better solved if governments make laws that enforce the recycling of such waste. From my perspective, this suggestion ought to be adopted.

In the first place, all citizens should understand that producing and dumping waste without recycling and limitation does great harm to the nature and our living environment. It is very difficult for many waste substances to be decomposed by the nature, for example, plastic bags and batteries are great threat to the wild animals, soil and underground water for over a century. We can often hear sad news on TV saying that fish, whales or turtles are chocked or wrapped by plastic bags and that leads to deadly results. Besides, this family waste comes in an inevitable amount every day. Without proper recycling, it is transported to landfills around our cities. In the long run, it will engulf our valuable land resources and turn our homes to places with pungent smells.

On top of that, it is sure to help us city residents develop a good habit of recycling useful materials from daily home waste when governments lay down laws of such requirements. It is widely believed that many human beings are prone to be lazy, or in other words, to perform procrastination in our lives. For example, we order take-out

food or buy packed snacks just to fill our belly, whereas the bags, wrappers and containers are simply littered because we refuse to wash dishes or pick out them for recycling. To a great extent, I believe, laws will take effect and provide guidance to people’s behaviors due to their compulsory nature and wide influence.

In a nutshell, governments should know that it is quite reasonable to make laws for family waste recycling, which benefits both the natural environment and people ourselves. We can expect a near future when people reduce and recycle home waste with both an enthusiastic heart and instructions from the city authorities.
