Advantages of Application of Animation in Teaching

For thousand years science and technology have been bringing so much convenience to our life , work and no exception of our teaching and learning. The application of animation in the process of teaching and learning is a good example.

The application of animation in the process of teaching and learning has its own unique advantages. Firstly, vocabulary is simple, speed of speaking is slow, pronunciation is clear and standard. All of those trait of animation are accessible to the primary and secondary school students, so it is easy for students to understand the plots and grasp the theme and idea of the animation. Besides, it will enhances students’confidence of learning English, stimulates students’ excitement of learning English, and finally develop students’ potential ability of language learning.

Secondly, the story is simple, the dialogue is straightforward. Most of the animation are focus on children, therefore, the story is showed without violence or sex, it is healthy for students to see and to appreciate. Compared to some other movies,especially Hollywood movies, the length of animation is moderate, it will not takes too much class time. so it is suitable for classroom teaching.

Thirdly, most of the animation contain strong culture spirit, for example some animation reveal the theme of democracy, freedom, love, enterprising spirit and pioneering courage and so on. Likes the film FROZEN released not long ago, revealed the theme of love. Love saved the whole country, saved the affection between family members, affection between lovers. Through the appreciation of this kind of animation, students can enrich their knowledge of all kinds of culture, and enrich their life experience.

Finally, most of the film score of animation is beautiful, it is easy to remember and learn, so it has a great attraction to the students. Students can learn language, culture knowledge while they singing the film score.

The application of animation in classroom teaching can do much good to teaching and learning as long as the teacher apply it properly. We, as future teachers, should explore the skills of application of animation in teaching.
