The Matschie’s tree kangaroo is one of 10 species of tree kangaroos, all of which are endangered or threatened. A tree kangaroo is typically about the size of a raccoon (浣熊) and weighs around 19 pounds. They live in the high canopy (树冠) of the rainforest , about 100 to 150 feet in the air. The Matschie’s tree kangaroo is orange and brown with a face that looks like a teddy bear. They can leap 60 feet to the ground from trees without getting hurt.
In 1996, Dr Lisa Dabek helped found the Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program (TKCP). Now, 16 years later, though still endangered, the population of the Matschie’s tree kangaroo is stabilizing. Much of the success is due to the work of Dabek, Senior Coservation Scientist at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seatle, Washington, and Director of the TKCP.
According to Dabek , the TKCP needed to cooperate with the local clans (部落) , some of whom kill them for food and ceremonial clothing. Dabek said, “We and the clans made a compromise. The clans would dedicate a part of their land as a “no hunting area”. But they could continue to hunt on their other land. Together they set aside 180,000 acres of land. They called this a “Wildlife Bank”.
Animal behavior has always been interesting to Dr Dabek. She said, “When I was 8 years old, a friend and I wrote down what we wanted to be when we grew up and sealed it inside an envelope to open when we were teenagers. When I opened it I was reminded that I wanted to be an animal trainer. And that is kind of what I am today.”

In the depths of the French Guianese rainforest, there still remain unusual groups of indigenous(土著的) people. Surprisingly, these people live largely by their own laws and their own social customs. And yet, people in this area are in fact French citizens because it has been a colony(殖民地) of the French Republic since 1946. The lives of these people have finally been recorded thanks to the effects of a Frenchman form Paris called Gin. Gin spent five months in early 2015 exploring the most remote corners of this area, which sits on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, with half its population of only 250,000 living in its capital, Cayenne.
“I have a special love for the French Guianese people. I have worked there on and off for almost ten years,” says Gin. “I’ve been able to keep firm friendships with them. Thus I have been allowed to gain access to their living environment. I don’t see it as a lawless land. But rather I see it as an area of freedom.”
“I wanted to show the audience a photographic record touching upon the uncivilized life,” continues Gin. “I prefe r to work in black and white, which allows me to show different specific worlds more clearly.”
His black-and-white pictures present a world almost lost in time. These pictures show people seemingly pushed into a world that they were unprepared for. These local citizens now have to balance their traditional self-supporting hunting lifestyle with the lifestyle offered by the modern French Republic, which brings with it not only necessary state welfare, but also alcoholism, betrayal（背叛）and even suicide.

A warm drink of milk before bed has long been the best choice for those wanting a good night’s sleep. But now a study has found it really does help people nod off—if it is milked from a cow at night.
Researchers have discovered that “night milk” contains more m elatonin(褪黑激素), which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety.
The study, by researchers from Seoul, South Korea, involved mice being fed with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night.
Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime, according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food.
Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer.
While the effect of cows milk harvested at different time has not been tested on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are struggling to fall asleep at night.
Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax.
Milk is also sugar-free and additive-free with nutritionists recommending skimmed milk
as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night.

I grew up in a small town until I was 18 and then moved to a big city, so I have experienced the good and bad sides of both. I never thought that I would like living in a big city, but I was wrong. I think that living in an area where everyone was just like me would qui ckly become dull. Of course, safety should be considered, and that’s one area where small towns are better than big cities. Still, I would rather be a bit more careful and live in a large city than to feel safe but d ull.

2016高二英语期中考试质量分析 高二英语期中考试质量分析 高二英语期中考试质量分析下学期高二英语期中考试顺利结束了，学生的分数和预期得有所偏差。为了对将来题及教学有所裨益，特对本次考试的情况进行如下分析。 一、试题评价： 试卷与高考题同型，涵盖了听力理解20分，英语知识运用10分，完形填空10分，阅读理解30分，摘录信息10分，回答问题5分，书面表达15分，总分100分。知识点分布在Module 5整本书上，以《导学案》为基础出题，试题难度还是比较适合学生的。 二、学生对各题得分情况分析： 1. 听力理解得分不高，尤其是听力填空，五空最多填对两空。 2. 单项选择题，是考查学生的语法基础知识题，此次命题，考察了学生词的辨析、语法、习语等语言知识，以及在特定的语境中运用语言知识进行交际的能力。此题知识覆盖面较广,重难点比较突出，注重了语言能力考察,以《导学案》上老师讲过的知识点为主稍做改动。学生在这题失分较多，反映出学生对基础知识的把握有所欠缺，教师在课堂中多次重点讲解过的知识，学生还是没能很好地掌握。以后在语法的教学过程中要加强同一知识点的反复且多样性的练习。 3. 完型填空题，主要考察学生对文章的整体理解及上下文的推理能力，牵涉到语感、语法及单词,以及对语言知识的综合运用能力,对学生提出了更高的要求。学生答这道题时,不仅要读懂整个语段,而且要选对所给的词,并对上下文进行融会贯通,学生在答此 题时顾此失彼, 失分较多,此题是整份试题难点之一。但从得分情况来看，这次完型不是太难，一般学生能得到好的分数。当然有些题目，学生不会使用排除法来进行答题。而答题中，排除法是一个很重要的答题技巧，学生一定要彻底掌握的，我们教师，在日常的教学中要反复多练，务求使学生在以后的应试中能够灵活运用。 4. 阅读理解，此题考察学生是否能够识别选择归纳所提供的信息，探索语篇中的表层含义和深层含义，并根据上下文进行合理的理解、进而进行推理归纳总结等思维活动，从而获得正确的语言信息、对问题作出正确的选择。本大题包括阅读3篇文章并选择正解的答案，从得分的实际情况来看，大部分学生的英语基础确实令人担忧。而第1篇文章较为简单是得分点；但##第3篇文章因为稍微有点难度，失分非常严重且不少同学一分未得，这体现了学生们对于稍难文章的理解能力非常薄弱。这部分题，也一直是学生失分的一个重点。 根据我对学生的调查，学生反应的主要问题在，第一是单词不认识；第二是在不少情况下，单词认识了，句子却看不懂；。第三是没有时间看文章答题。再有就是文章的分析归纳理解能力不行。根据近几年高考趋势，阅读文章篇幅都偏长，但题目很简单。因此，我有必要在以后的教学中有一定的针对性，教给学生基本的阅读技巧和技能。 5.摘录信息题，相对比较简单，较差的学生都能得到6分。 6．回答问题，没有学生全对，有少部分学生甚至做都没做。 6.书面表达，此次作文是以一单元学的友谊为基础出的一篇介绍朋友的文章，是一篇好写并且有话可写的文章，但个别同学在语言的灵活应用上欠功夫，不能够把自己所学的知识恰当地运用到作文中去 ,且中式英语较重, 语言表达不地道, 语法错误较多，对使用课本中优美的英语句子进行模仿写作的能力无法很好地掌握。还有很少几个同学没写作文，态度十分不端正。 三、今后的教学中应改进的措施。 通过这套试卷的分析，我个人认为，我在以后的教学中，应该在以下几外方面有所加强。

高一英语第一学期期末考试质量分析 江阴中学林云兰 一、关于试卷的分析 1、试题难度 为了最大限度地保护大多数学生学习英语的积极性，使各种层面的学生均能学有所获，尤其让中下水平的学生能提高学英语的兴趣，并尽快找到学英语的感觉，从而真正实现从“要我学”向“我要学”转化，本次期中考试卷难度严格依照学生实际情况，把难度值控制在0.70左右。 2、答题得失 多数考生能在各考查项目上发挥其最大潜能，但不少考生对基础知识和基本技能的掌握不扎实在这次检测中也充分暴露。主要表现在如下几方面：（1）听力理解 听力测试的结果尽管比衔接考试的好多了，但仍尚未达到预期的效果，仍有不少考生在这一大题上失分严重，得分率不足50%。失分原因主要是考生对整体推断和细节捕捉能力不强，如题2、3、11、19等。因此，根据上下文内容，对所听材料进行分析和判断的能力有待于加强。 （2）单项填空 词汇量偏低、语法知识混乱是造成这一大题失分的主要原因，如25、26、28、32等。另外，一些学生欠缺生活常识，也在一定程度上影响对个别题目的理解，如题22。 （3）完形填空 失分的主要原因是考生捕捉篇章大意的能力较低，上下文逻辑推理能力不到位，如题41、48、45、49等。当然，词汇量偏低也是造成失分的重要原因，有些考生阅读时对语篇理解感到云里雾里。 （4）阅读理解 失分的主要原因是考生的阅读量偏低，对阅读理解5种考查能力尚缺乏应有的训练，尤其是主旨大意题、推理判断题和作者的意图和态度题等，如题65、66、71、72、73、75等。 （5）单词拼写
