题目:Theater戏剧

题型:4判断题+9表格填空题

新旧程度:旧题

文章大意:戏剧与其他艺术形式的区别和联系;不同时期英国戏剧的发展、特点及观众群体。

参考文章:

Theatre

Theatre of United Kingdom plays an important part in British culture, and the countries that constitute the UK have had a vibrant tradition of theatre since the Renaissance with roots doing back to the Roman occupation.

Theatre was introduced from Europe to what is now the United Kingdom by the Romans and auditoriums were constructed across the country for this purpose. By the medieval period theatre had developed with the mummers' plays, a form of early street theatre associated with the Morris dance, concentrating on themes such as Saint George and the Dragon and Robin Hood. These were folk tales re-telling old stories, and the actors travelled from town to town performing these for their audiences in return for money and hospitality.

The medieval mystery plays and morality plays, which dealt with Christian themes, were performed at religious festivals. The most important work of literature surviving from the Middle Cornish period is An Ordinale Kernewek, a 9000-line religious drama composed around the year 1400. The longest single surviving work

of Cornish literature is The Life of Meriasek, a play dated 1504, but probably copied from an earlier manuscript.

There are four complete or nearly complete extant English biblical collections of plays from the late medieval period; although these collections are sometimes referred to as "cycles," it is now believed that this term may attribute to these collections more coherence than they in fact possess. The most complete is the York cycle of forty-eight pageants.

The reign of Elizabeth I in the late 16th and early 17th century saw a flowering of the drama and all the arts. Perhaps the most famous playwright in the world, William Shakespeare, wrote around 40 plays that are still performed in theatres across the world to this day. They include tragedies, such as Hamlet (1603); and history plays, such as Henry IV, part 1—2. The Elizabethan age is sometimes nicknamed "the age of Shakespeare" for the amount of influence he held over the era. Other important Elizabethan and 17th-century playwrights include Ben Jonson, Christopher Marlowe, and John Webster.

Drama in Wales as a literary tradition dates to morality plays from north-east Wales in the second half of the 15th century. The development of Renaissance theatre in England did not have great influence in Wales as the gentry found different forms of artistic patronage. One surviving example of Welsh literary drama is Troelus a Chresyd, an anonymous adaptation from poems by Henrysoun and Chaucer dating to around 1600. With no urban centres to compare to England to support regular stages, morality plays and interludes continued to circulate in

inn-yard theatres and fairs, supplemented by visiting troupes performing English repertoire.

and the second one is after the construction for some facilities.

In 2010, there was a large expanse of forests in the southwestern part of the park and three car parks in the surrounding areas. A river was in the north which

flowed from west to east. In the eastern side of the park, a heritage railway was located.

With several years development, a cycle path is newly constructed along the river. Furthermore, a hotel with car park is situated to the west of heritage railway. It should also be noticed that a café is on the opposite of the parking area.

Overall, comparing the two maps, there are significant changes after this development. Not only lots of facilities are built in the park, but also the natural view is reserved. The new park has become a good place for leisure.

TASK 2

Some people think that schools should stop teaching children by using books, because children find them boring and that children can learn from films, TV, video games and computers instead. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

题目分析:

题目类型:教育类

提问方式:同意与否类

The advent of technology has tremendously shaped the learning media children can have access to nowadays. Even though the modern learning vehicles are on the vogue, I am still firmly and fully believe that books are and will be an indispensable tool for children's learning.

The intrinsic drawbacks of new learning media, such as computers, video games and films determine that they can work as complementary ways of learning. These emerging learning tools are primarily composed of fragment of information, paling in comparison with the systematically designed books with different modules and units which are tailored for students of various levels.

This inherent characteristic of the new type of learning methods is also likely to reduce concentration of children, leading to distraction or even attention deficit disorder. This is because in order to appeal children at first sight, computers, movies and video courses tend to employ cartoons, special effects and intriguing sound, which seemingly get grip of their attention, while will cause visual fatigue and other physical problems such as poor eyesight and vertebral discomfort.

Apart from the shortcomings derived from the new way of learning itself, the potential immense cost and investment in the materials and equipment also make it unfeasible for majorities of schools, especially schools in disadvantaged areas where students even find books are almost unavailable. Besides, even though school can receive government subsidies, most tuition fees are still finally paid by students,

which means that they have to allocate more budget to their education, which is originally supposed to be affordable for large number of students.

In conclusion, despite the fact that books are not as stimulating as their new learning counterparts, it is utterly insensible for schools to stop using books.

Speaking 口语

一、考试概述:

以下为8月份本场考试话题,请考生们扎实准备。

1. Describe a popular comic actor/ actress

2. Describe a city/ country you would like to live or work in

3. Describe a situation when you had to be polite

4. Describe something you enjoy doing with an old person in your family

5. Describe a quiet place you found

二、具体题目分析

Describe a popular comic actor/ actress in your country.

You should say:

Who he/she is

How you knew him/her

What comedies have he/she performed

And explain why he/she is popular

When it comes to a popular actor in my country, I could say without doubt that Zhao Benshan is one of the most popular comic actors in China. To begin with, I will start by saying how I knew him. Since 1987 when he was recommended to the CCTV New Year’s Gala for the first time, he has appeared in each Gala show unt il 2011. In fact, Zhao is a symbol of traditional Chinese culture, nearly everyone in my country knows him. Going onto my next point of his comedy works, I want to say there are plenty of them. His well-known performances include "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow", and "Fix Up the House". In addition, he has also appeared as an actor in many films, including Zhang Yimou's "Happy Times" in 2000, where he played an aging bachelor dying to get hitched. Lastly, I want to explain why he is so popular. Frankly speaking, Zhao is really talented in acting. He was orphaned when he was little. Apprenticed to his uncle, he learned many local traditional performance arts, including erhu and Er Ren Zhuan, which laid a solid foundation for his performing career. On the other hand, he is really a prolific comedy actor as he has performed at the annual event for 18 years in a row, and all of his short sketches are hilarious while thought-provoking. All in all, Zhao Benshan is a pioneer for Chinese traditional comedy, and it’s impossible for people to have a good understanding of it without knowing him.

雅思写作批改 (18)

Public museums are no longer important because people can see the historical objects and artworks on the computer. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (250words,within 40min) Traditionally, we usually need to travel a long time to a museum just to view several historical objects as well as artworks, but now, some people, however, suggest that museums are not that significant as we are able to search almost all the details of ones if we like. In my opinion, public museums will not remain as a critical role in our lives. Admittedly, it would be of more inconvenience when we have to go to a certain museum to see some objects rather than searching it on the Internet. For one thing, most of the information online is always free and easy to access but if we are required to one museum we have to pay for the transportation fee, the ticket, even a meal near a museum. For another, it might also be a pity if some of the object would not be exhibit all of the time so it is normal to meeta condition that you could not even take a look at one that you really like. Internet, though, never facing this problem so you can view it any time you want. For those organizations who run the museum such as governments, it is costly to open museums as well as exhibiting and protecting all the time. (时间到)They are supposed to protect the historical object and artwork which always worth several millions of dollars for that reason they not only have to employ some super professional security guard in high salariesbut also buy some high tech machine to spy themand it is really a waste of money. 雅思写作素材Technology & media

Technology & media 类 科技类 People today can perform the everyday tasks such as shopping, banking or even business transactions, without meeting others face-to-face. What effects will this phenomenon have on individuals and society as a whole? 开头段(不少于3+1句) The interactivity of the Internet and the mobile phone has enabled a multitude of people to purchase their desired items or pay their phone bills without stepping out of their offices or homes. And many others can even register for tests or sign contracts online. This sweeping trend of going about everyday business in the virtual world has triggered a marked decline in face-to-face contact between people. Thus, it is essential that we identify the implication of this trend on both individuals and society as a whole. 主体段1(不少于1+6句) The impact of this phenomenon on individuals is profound. First, Individual efficiency in business transaction and banking will be greatly enhanced. And those who dread shopping are spared the chore of browsing around in shops. Secondly, the increasingly sedentary lifestyle will engender a higher incidence of ailment. More overweight people means more patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases such as vein hardening, diabetes and hypertension. Thirdly, the absence of face-to-face contact may induce distrust between business partners. An inherent sense of disbelief is apt to ruin a telecommunicated negotiation when negotiators can only see videos of each other transmitted via the Internet. 主体段2(不少于1+6句) This trend also has widespread repercussions on society as a whole. In the first place, the burgeoning e-commerce will, doubtless, boost corporate efficiency immeasurably. And higher efficiency means more earnings and less costs for businesses. In the second place, online fraud, be it banking or trading, retail or wholesale, is sure to abound in the cyberspace. We must search for practicable and effectual means of curbing it. In the third place, the proliferation of e-commerce may exacerbate man's overdependence on technology. And that can render our lives unspontaneous and our tempo of life too fast and furious. 结尾段(不少于2句)

2018年雅思阅读模拟题及答案解析

2018年雅思阅读模拟题及答案解析(20) Don’t wash those fossils! Standard museum practice can wash away DNA. 1. Washing, brushing and varnishing fossils —all standard conservation treatments used by many fossil hunters and museum curators alike —vastly reduces the chances of recovering ancient DNA. 2. Instead, excavators should be handling at least some of their bounty with gloves, and freezing samples as they are found, dirt and all, concludes a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences today. 3. Although many palaeontologists know anecdotally that this is the best way to up the odds of extracting good DNA,Eva-Maria Geigl of the Jacques Monod Institute in Paris,France, and her colleagues have now shown just how important conservation practices can be. This information, they say, needs to be hammered home among the people who are actually out in the field digging up bones. 4. Geigl and her colleagues looked at 3,200-year-old fossil bones belonging to a single individual of an extinct cattle species, called an aurochs. The fossils were dug up at a site in France at two different times —either in 1947,and stored in a museum collection,or in 2004,and conserved in sterile conditions at -20 oC. 5. The team’s attempts to extract DNA from the 1947 bones all failed. The newly excavated fossils, however, all yielded DNA.

This money will bring more benefits if it is used to provide new housing or road development. To what extend do you agree or disagree. 范文: Every city has old buildings. Every year the governments around the world spend large sums of money restoring them. Some people consider this a huge waste of money and they believe the governments’budget should go to building new houses and roads, while others insist that the restoration of old buildings in cities is well worth the money. There are a host of reasons why some urban old buildings should not be restored. To start with, the old buildings are no longer suitable for people to live in, therefore they should be destroyed and give way to new buildings so that people, especially young people in the cities have more living spaces. Secondly, the old buildings can cause inconveniences for the city dwellers. Since there is not a direct route through the old buildings, people sometimes have to go to and off work by making a long detour around them, and in this way much of their time is wasted. Finally, the old buildings may give rise to safety problems. More than 100 people,

Presently, the population of teenagers is on the rise in some countries which might have both positive and negative effects on the progress of a nation. Here, I would like to account for current and upcoming consequences of this phenomenon. Multifarious positive effects can be put down behind this happening. First and foremost, youthful generation plays a phenomenal role to flourish the progress of a nation. For example, majority of young people are expected to learn professional skills related to science, engineering, medical, technology, sports and so on. As a result, a country will be enriched with a massive number of prodigious talented people who could contribute remarkably at jobs to ensure the development of their nation. Does advantage outweigh disadvantages?

题目分析: 题目类型:社会类 提问方式:优缺点类 Parental leave is an employee benefit applied for most current careers around the world, albeit they are distributed differently in terms of time scale and payment. In my opinion, maximizing such welfare stipulated by laws can create long term benefits for both individual family and the society itself. 2018-06-02: Task 2 (India) Some people use technology to take advice for their medical problems rather than seeing to doctor. Why is this so? Is it positive or negative development according to you? 范文1: Owing to technology, everything becomes easily accessible. Some people take advantage of technology as they discuss their health issues with experts on the internet rather than going to them. This trend increasing in our society as people have a busy schedule. In my opinion, it is a positive development as taking medical prescription online save time as well as energy. But it has some disadvantages also so discussed below. Technology brings people close enough that they can discuss their problems with a number of people at once and can share their experiences so that others can take advantage of this. Taking online prescription save time, as there is no need to run to the hospitals and set a queue to meet the doctors. Using technology, people can take advice from foreign experts rather than considering only native ones. Various online websites are now available, where experts and people can communicate with each other, here https://www.360docs.net/doc/dc9810731.html, is worth mentioning as it provides a common platform for everyone. However, it may have some disadvantages, as in serious health issues such as cancer or in other deadly diseases where the doctor can visually check and do some tests, is not possible online. In those cases, people should visit the experts and get proper medical care. Under specialist vision, the patient gets recover much faster. Although technology provides us various advantages, sometimes under certain circumstances, it may worsen the situation. For example, in case of heart attack patient should rush to the hospital rather than taking online medical care. In some medical issues such as cold, fever people should take advice online but in other deadly cases, people should visit to doctors so that can take better medication. In conclusion, no doubt technology has a huge role and brings everything closer, it has its own merits and demerits, we can take only certain medication and healthcare pieces of advice such as what we should eat to reduce the weight, not in other serious issues. 范文2: Many individuals are making use of technology such as the internet to seek medical advice instead of visiting a doctor. There are many reasons behind this, however, in my opinion, it is a negative development.
