Step I Check Homework

(The student reads his/her passage. If he/she has some good rules and suggestions, the teacher can write down on the blackboard.)

Step II Grammar Study

Write the three sentences on the blackboard: You must go home before six o’clock. We should study hard. He can speak English.

T: Now please look at the sentences. All of them are sentences with model words. I think all of you know their meanings. But do you know the usage of them?

(The teacher explains to the students the use and the difference between the model verbs.) Step III Practice

The teacher prepares some signs ahead of time. Before doing Activity 1, show the signs to the class and ask the students to talk about them. Then the students can know more signs.

Turn to Page 38 and look at the signs in Activity 1. Then match the signs and the

rules. (After a while, the teacher asks the students to read the rules one by one.)

Read the list of rules to all climbers in Activity 2. The rules come from a Climbing center. The rules tell all the climbers what they must do or what they mustn’t do, and what they should do or what they shouldn’t do. Read carefully and write sentences according to the model. There are five “why” questions in Activity 3. We can’t find the answers from the list. We have to find out the reasons ourselves. Work in pairs and try to explain why.

(When the students discuss, the teacher can go among the students to help them. Then check the answers with the whole class.)
