Student：I am a student at the moment. I am studying English on a full-time basis at a Language School here in Shenyang. We have classes in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Wednesday afternoons we are off, and are allowed to go swimming at a nearby hotel. We have a number of foreign teachers who assist us in the correct pronunciation and grammar of the language.

I have well established study habits. For example, I always start promptly at eight in the evenings. I study for two hours, have a ten-minute break, and the study for another two hours. I follow this habit from Monday’s to Friday’s, but over the weekends I p ut in more hours. For example, I study in the mornings and afternoons, and then take the evenings off
to relax with my family or friends.

Firstly, we often use case studies in class. What I mean is that the professor gives us examples from real life to examine and report on. Secondly, our lecturers and some advisors from the relevant industries have set up our study material. What I mean to say is
that the people who we are going to work for one day have had the opportunity to tell the university what they think we should be taught.
What are your job prospects?

I live with my parents here in Shenyang at the moment we live in an apartment building in one of the northern suburbs of the city.

Yes, certainly. Shenyang is in the northeast part of China, and the capital of the Liaoning province. It has about seven million inhabitants. It has many heavy industries such as automobile, aircraft, and machine tool manufacturers. In addition, it is rich in history.
What places should foreigners visit in your hometown? Why?
Sure. Firstly, I could mention the Hun River, which you will find around the city. To the northeast of the city there is the famous Qing Pan Mountains and the zoological park and botanical gardens. In summer it is a popular place to visit and see tigers, bears, wolves, other animals and even pandas in their natural environment. In winter we often go skiing there. Secondly, I would like to mention Beiling Park. It consists of a large park, with many gardens and a l ake. In addition it also is the site of an emperor’s tomb from the Qing Dynasty. There are many places that I like. I would like to tell you about Government Square. Firstly, it is the largest square in Shenyang. Secondly, it houses an important government building.

Certainly. We are a normal Chinese family. It consists of my father, my mother, and me. I am the only child, so I don’t have any brothers or sisters. My father was one of four children, and my mother has a brother, so I have a number of uncles and aunts, and many cousins. Who does most of the shopping in your family?
As far as this topic is concerned, I could say that my mother does most of the shopping, but my father and I will do some shopping from time to time. My parents allow me to buy my own cloth es. Lastly, I would like to mention that my mother does not like my father’s smoking habit and therefore refuses to buy cigarettes, so that my father has to do that kind of shopping himself.

The building I'd like to talk about is the library of my school. I first saw this building when I became a student of this school. Many classmates told me that it is a quiet place to study.
So I go to the library about once a week. It's quieter than the classroom and I like the atmosphere there.
The place is now a library for history books and any books published in China are there, but
it also has an interesting history itself. It is located near the gymnasium. Our classrooms are at the opposite side of the library. We can go there through a path. The building was built in traditional Qing architectural style because it was last rebuilt during that time. The roof is quite steep. It is red and has quite a few wooden pillars holding it up at all sides.
It is used as an all-purpose library. There are some reading rooms in the library. And each reading room is full of books. I think the transportation system in my hometown is quite good. Compared to many other cities, the bus system is quite cheap and clean and because there are enough lines they are usually not too crowded. The roads are well designed and they are wide enough for people to pass through without any major jams. Another thing I think is good are the bicycle lanes, which are just wide enough for people to get through. I think the main reason our transportation system is so good is because we have good city management. They seem
to know exactly what we need and want.

In China, going to university can help me get a good job. But, many courses are too old and not very useful. The professors often have just recently graduated or are very new in their

As far as I'm concerned, the fast food restaurants are doing our country a favor because they help us learn the service techniques that are very successful. I mean take McDonalds
