英语的时态

定义动词以一定的词形变化形式来表达事物之动作或状态的时间性者称为时态(Tens e)。

词形变化的形式共有如下四种:

1.一般式(Simple Form)

2.进行式(Progressive Form)

3.完成式(Perfect Form)

4.完成进行式(Perfect Progressive Form)

动作或状态的时间性则可分为如下三个时段:

1.现在(Present)

2.过去(Past)

3.将来(Future)

这四种词形形式和三个时段可以配合成如下的十二种动词的时态。

这十二种时态可以列表如下:

现以“I”为主语,“do”为动词,把这十二种时态以实例表达如下:(例序即为时态的次序)1.I do it every day.

(我每天做这样的事。)

2.I did it yesterday.

(昨天我做了这件事。)

3.I shall/will do it tomorrow.

(明天我要做这件事。)

4.I am doing it now.

(现在我正在做这件事。)

英语中的边缘介词

边缘介词(Marginal Prepositions)指的是那些在语法功能上与介词相似的词。本文所要介绍的是那些貌似动词却非动词的边缘介词。与一般介词不同的是,这类介词的词形较特别:除少数词以动词原形出现以外,大多数词为分词形式。由于其独特的词形,加上一般语法书上又没有给出详尽的用法说明及例句,人们往往很难将这些词同介词联系在一起。事实上,作为一种较为特殊的介词,它们同样具有一般介词所具有的某些语法功能,在现代英语中的运用也并不少见。例如《大学英语》第一册中有这样的一个句子“ (i)

一、形似现在分词的边缘介词

英语中,绝大多数类似动词的边缘介词都为现在分词形式,其中最为常见的有以下一些:

1.barring(不包括,如果没有):

Barring special circumstances, the plane will arrive on schedule.

如无特殊情况,飞机将准时到达。

2.concerning(关于,就……来说):

We had several discussions concerning the matter.

关于这事,我们已讨论好几次了。

3.considering(鉴于,就……而论):

Considering his age, he writes quite well.

以他的年龄来看,他写得相当不错。

4.excepting(除……之外),该词用于句首或not,without,always之后。Everyone helped, not excepting John.

每个人都帮了一把,连约翰也不例外。

5.failing(如果在……中失败,如果没有):

Failing specific instructions, use your own judgment.

6.pending(直到),此词为正式用语。

This matter must wait pending his return from Europe.

7.regarding(关于),此词为正式用语,常用于商业信函中。

8.respecting(关于,至于):

10.wanting(没有):

二、形似过去分词及形同动词原形的边缘介词

这类介词为数不多,最常用的有以下几个:

1.given(考虑到):

Given the present conditions, I think she's done rather well.

考虑到目前的条件,我认为她做得相当不错了。

2.granted (that)(假定,即使):

Granted (或Granting) that she should come to lend you a hand, it doesn't mean she will.

即使她应该来帮你一把,也并不意味着她会这样做。

3.bar(除……之外):

We'll come on time bar(或barring)traffic delay.

除非路上堵车,我们将准时到达。

4.save(除……之外),此词为正式用语。

The screen was all dark save for one bright spot.

除了一个光点之外,屏幕上一片黑暗。

从以上所给例句中,我们不难看出,这类介词同样具有一般介词的语法功能,它们在句中主要用作状语或在名词短语之后作后置修饰语。有一点需要说明的是,有些以分词形式出现的词,除了有边缘介词的功能以外,还有其他一些功能,如连接词的功能,这就非本文所讨论的范围了。

一、长元音和双元音饱满

鬼鬼祟祟的英文就是鬼鬼祟祟(sneaky; lousy)的元音造成的!只要把元音发饱满(full; plump),你的英语立刻会变得悦耳动听。那些英美流行歌手就是元音饱满的典范!

第一、我们来看[A],俗称“疯狂90度咧嘴”音。

英语写作常见错误分析 一.不一致(Disagreements) 所谓不一致不光指主谓不一致,它还包括了数的不一致时态不一致及代词不一致等. 例1.When one have money ,he can do what he want to . (人一旦有了钱,他就能想干什么就干什么.) 剖析:one是单数第三人称,因而本句的have应改为has ;同理,want应改为wa nts.本句是典型的主谓不一致. 改为:Once one has money ,he can do what he wants (to do) 二.修饰语错位(Misplaced Modifiers) 英语与汉语不同,同一个修饰语置于句子不同的位置,句子的含义可能引起变化.对于这一点中国学生往往没有引起足够的重视,因而造成了不必要的误解.例1.I believe I can do it well and I will better know the world outside the campus. 剖析:better位置不当,应置于句末. 三.句子不完整(Sentence Fragments) 在口语中,交际双方可借助手势语气上下文等,不完整的句子完全可以被理解.可是书面语就不同了,句子结构不完整会令意思表达不清,这种情况常常发生在主句写完以后,笔者又想加些补充说明时发生. 例1.There are many ways to know the society. For example by TV ,radio ,newspa per and so on . 剖析:本句后半部分"for example by TV ,radio ,newspaper and so on .”不是一个完整的句子,仅为一些不连贯的词语,不能独立成句. 改为:There are many ways to know society ,for example ,by TV ,radio ,and newspap er. 四.悬垂修饰语(Dangling Modifiers) 所谓悬垂修饰语是指句首的短语与后面句子的逻辑关系混乱不清.例如:At the a ge of ten, my grandfather died. 这句中"at the age of ten"只点出十岁时,但没有说明”谁”十岁时.按一般推理不可能是my grandfather, 如果我们把这个悬垂修饰语改明确一点,全句就不那么费解了. 改为: When I was ten, my grandfather died.

析:虽然在通常情况下,accept=接受,receive=收到,但并不是说汉语中所有的“接受”都可用accept 来对译。 5. 他做这事是偶然的,还是故意的? 误:Did he do it on accident or by purpose? 正:Did he do it by accident or on purpose? 析:by accident 是习语,表示“偶然地”;on purpose 也是习语,表示“故意地”,注意两者介词的搭配不能混淆。 6. 你怎么解释事故的原因? 误:How can you account the accident? 正:How can you account for the accident? 析:account 用作动词时,表示“认为”,是及物动词;表示“解释”“说明”等,是不及物动词,若需后接宾语,通常借助介词for。 7. 不要杞人忧天。 误:Don't across the bridge until you come to it. 正:Don't cross the bridge until you come to it. 正:Don't walk across the bridge until you come to it. 析:across 是介词或副词(不是动词),cross 是动词。 8. 你要想卖掉你的产品,你就得为此登广告。

英语写作中常见错误与分析及技巧 下面我们对一些在英语写作中典型的病句实例逐一加以剖析。 一、不一致(Disagreements) 所谓不一致不光指主谓不一致,它还包括了数的不一致时态不一致及代词不一致等。 例:When one have money, he can do what he want to.(人一旦有了钱,他就能想干什么就干什么。) 剖析:one是单数第三人称,因而本句的have应改为has;同理,want应改为wants,本句是典型的主谓不一致。 改为:Once one has money, he can do what he wants (to do) 二、修饰语错位(Misplaced Modifiers) 英语与汉语不同,同一个修饰语置于句子不同的位置,句子的含义可能引起变化。对于这一点中国学生往往没有引起足够的重视,因而造成了不必要的误解。例:I believe I can do it well and I will better know the world outside the campus. 剖析:better位置不当,应置于句末. 三、句子不完整(Sentence Fragments) 在口语中,交际双方可借助手势语气上下文等,不完整的句子完全可以被理解。可是书面语就不同了,句子结构不完整会令意思表达不清,这种情况常常发生在主句写完以后,笔者又想加些补充说明时发生。 例:There are many ways to know the society. For example by TV, radio, newspaper and so on. 剖析:本句后半部分“for example by TV, radio, newspaper and so on.”不是一个完整的句子,仅为一些不连贯的词语,不能独立成句。 改为:There are many ways to know society, for example, by TV, radio, and newspaper. 四、悬垂修饰语(Dangling Modifiers) 所谓悬垂修饰语是指句首的短语与后面句子的逻辑关系混乱不清.例如:At the age of ten, my grandfather died.这句中“at the age of ten”只点出十岁时,但没有说明“谁”十岁时。按一般推理不可能是my grandfather,如果我们把这个悬垂修饰语改明确一点,全句就不那么
