1. chasing your tail :

Because the market is changing more dramatically than it would have 15 or 20 years ago. I think that’s because there are a lot more trend- followers involved in the market than before. It’s a game where you’re forever chasing your tail.

2.take a page from...向...学习

例句:The energy sector could take a page from financial firms, which do a good job of ensuring that Internet-based transactions are secure.

The president told the nation the war was over and asked them to turn the page and work for the reconstruction of the country.

4. It never rains but it pours.“不雨则已,一雨倾盆”,形容坏事不来则已,一来则不止。

It never rains but it pours

5. In the hole:

Economists are scratching their heads. The global recession has left many countries in the hole. Which ones are likely to regain prosperity?

同意替换: in the red 欠债

6. Turn to jelly:

形容某事为like nailing jelly to the wall 就说明这件事让人无法理解也很难形容。

Writing the history of this period is like nailing jelly to the wall.

Investors and companies are still jittery

7. the bare bones(of sth)(某事或某情况的)梗概,概要.

例句:The bare bones of the scheme are its cheapness and simplicity.

Owners of small businesses have weighed in on the interest rate debate. Most of them want to keep the rates low for as long as possible.

9. In the picture

Members of Parliament insisted on being put in the picture about the government's plans.

10. back to the drawing board:

That is because, unlike an engineer, evolution cannot go back to the drawing board, it can merely play with what already exists.

A rumor is a social cancer: It is difficult to constrain and it rots the brains of the masses.However, the real danger is that so many people find rumors enjoyable. That part causes the infection. And in such cases when a rumor is only partially made of truth, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly where the information may have gone wrong. It is passed on and on until some brave soul questions its validity;

The “Fearless Girl,” fists curled at her sides and face held high in seeming defiance of the giant bull galloping before her, has drawn international attention since it was unveiled last month and tapped into growing frustration around the struggle female executives face rising into leadership positions, particularly on Wall Street.

1.Fearless

2.Defiance

3.Gallop

4.Unveil

6.curl

The “Fearless Girl,” has drawn international attention and tapped into growing frustration around the struggle female executives.

1.fists(are) curled at her sides face (are) held high in seeming defiance of the giant bull galloping before her

2. since it was unveiled last month 状语

3. particularly on Wall Street 状语

4.around the struggle 定语

5.(that)female executives face (that=struggle)(that引导定语从句做宾语可以省)

6. rising into leadership positions

That ma y sound cynical, but it’s actually a business axiom that may prove key in helping to garner support from other businesses for climate-friendly policies, sustainability experts say.

1.Cynical

2.Axiom 格言

3.Garner 获得

4.Climate-friendly

5.Sustainability

sustainability experts say

That may sound cynical

it’s actually a business axiom that may prove key in helping to garner support from other businesses for climate-friendly policies(强调句)

还原:

1.a business axiom may prove key (主干)

=.a business axiom is key

2.in helping to garner support from other businesses for climate-friendly policies

The “Fearless Girl,” fists curled at her sides and face held high in seeming defiance of the giant bull galloping before her, has drawn international attention since it was unveiled last month and tapped into growing frustration around the struggle female executives face rising into leadership positions, particularly on Wall Street.

2017-11-28

The findings of a research institution have consistently shown that workers in all countries can be trained on the job to achieve radical higher productivity and, as a result, radically higher standards of living.

Ironically, the first evidence for this idea appeared in the United States. Not long ago, with the country entering a recessing and Japan at its pre-bubble peak. The U.S. workforce was derided as poorly educated and one of primary cause of the poor U.S. economic performance. Japan was, and remains, the global leader in automotive-assembly productivity. Yet the research revealed that the U.S. factories of Honda Nissan, and Toyota achieved about 95 percent of the productivity of their Japanese counterparts -- a result of the training that U.S. workers received on the job.

33.A major difference between the Japanese and U.S workforces is that __________.

[A] the Japanese workforce is better disciplined

[B] the Japanese workforce is more productive

[C] the U.S workforce has a better education

[D] the U.S workforce is more organized

the U.S. factories of Honda Nissan, and Toyota achieved about 95 percent of the productivity of their Japanese counterparts

That may sound cynical, but it’s actually a busi ness axiom that may prove key in helping to garner support from other businesses for climate-friendly policies, sustainability experts say.

But despite of the strong mind and refusal to accept the defeat, they will eventually grow old and be in want of help.

When this happens, it’s incumbent on us to support them both physically and spiritually: show them respect even though they lose their temper like a child, hold them tightly when they are weak and fragile as they once did for you, and always assure them whatever happens you will be there.

And this, in my view, is what family and love really entails.
