第二讲名词性从句

一、改正下列句子中的唯一错误:

1. That I want to say first is that the teachers here are very friendly.

【答案】.(主语从句)That改为What

【解析】分析句子可知,That I want to say first为主语从句,从句中say后缺少宾语,指所说的内容,要用连接代词what;连接词that在主语从句中无含义,不作任何成分。

2.If we are in the habit of asking whether that we are told is true, we can find the corret answer and learn more. 【答案】.(主语从句)that改为what

三、短文改错

I grew up in a small town there the elementary school was a ten-minute walk from my house and in an age when children could go home for lunch and found their mothers waiting .I took for granted that mothers were the sandwich-makers or the homework monitors. I never questioned if this intelligent woman, who had had a job before I was born, would eventually return again to work. I only knew that when the noon bell rings, I would race breathless home. My mother would be standing at the top of the stair, smiling at me in a look that suggested I was the only important thing she had on her mind. For this, I am forever grateful.

【答案】

第一处:there→where分析句子结构可知,此处应用表示地点的关系副词引导定语从句;引导词在句中作地点状语。故将there改为where。

第二处:found→find and连接并列成分,find和前面的go并列,承前省略了could,故将found改为find。第三处:在took后加it take it for granted that...为固定句型,意为“认为……理所当然”,it作形式宾语。故在took后加it。

第四处:or→and 根据句意“我把妈妈既做三明治又检查作业看得理所当然。”可知,sandwich-makers和homework monitors是并列关系,不是选择关系,故将or改为and。

第五处:if→that questioned后面的宾语从句结构和意义完整,而不应该用表示疑问的“是否”(if),故将if改为that。

第六处:删除again return to work是第一次提到的动作,所以不能用表示动作重复的again,故删掉again。第七处:rings→rang,整篇文章描述作者小时候的事情,所以时态应是一般过去时,故将rings改为rang。第八处:breathless→breathlessly应用副词修饰动词race,故将breathless 改为breathlessly。

第九处:stair→stairs stair意为“梯级”,为可数名词,其复数形式表示“楼梯”,at the top of the stairs意为“在楼梯顶端”。故将stair改为stain。

第十处:in→with“带有某种表情”应用with,故将in改为with。
