We are all busy talki ng about and using the In ter net （互联网），but how many of us know the history of the In ternet?
Many people are surprised whe n they find that the Internet was set up in the 1960s. At that time, computers were large and expensive. Computer n etworks （网络）did n't work well. If one computer in the n etwork broke dow n, then the whole n etwork stopped. So a new n etwork system had to be set up. It should be good eno ugh to be used by many differe nt computers.
