The En glish have a difficult and , gen erally speak ing , dysfu nction al (不协调的)relati on ship with clothes.

Their main problem is dial they have a desperate need for rules, and are unable to get along without them. Tins helps to explain why they have an international reputation for dressing in general very badly, but with specific areas of excellenee. such as high-class men ' s suits, ceremonial costume, and innovati革新的)street fashion. In other words, we English dress best when we are

“ in uniform ”.

You may be surprised that I am in cludi ng "inno vative street fashi on ” in the category of uniform. Sure parrot-haired punks (朋克摇滚乐迷)or the Victorian vampire Goths are being original, not following rules? It true that they all look different and eccentric (奇特的)but in fact they all look eccentric in exactly the same way.

They are wearing a uniform. The only truly eccentric dresser in this country is the Queen, who pays no attention

to fashion and continues to wear what she likes, a kind of 1950s fashion, with no reg ard for anyone else ' s opinion. However, it is true that the styles inven ted by young En glish people are much more ecce ntric tha n any other nation 'stseet fashion, We may not be individually eccentric, apart from the Queen, but we have a sort of collective eccentricity, and we appreciate originality in dress even if we do not individually have it.

Another “ rule o” behavior I had discovered was that it is very important for the English not to take themselves too seriously, to be able to laugh at themselves. However, it is well known that most teenagers tend to take themselves a bit too seriously.

The Goths, in their scaring black costumes, certainly look as if they are taking themselves seriously. But

when I got into conversation with them, I discovered that they too had a sense of humor. I was once chatting to a Goth in the full vampire costume--with a white face, deep purple lipstick, and black parrot-hair. I saw he was also wearing a T- shirt with

“ Goth ” . “ Why are you wearing that? ” I asked. " It ' s in case you don ' t

he answered, pretending to be serious. We both burst out laughing.

32. What can we know about the En glish people?

A. They n eed rules to dress well.

B. They are in n eed of uni forms.

C. They are creative in gen eral.

D. They lead the world trend.

33. Who is in dividually ecce ntric in dress ing?

A. A high-class man.

B. A parrot-haired punk.

C. The Quee n.

D. The fashi on inno vator.

34. Which of the followi ng can best describe the Goths?

A. They dress badly.

B. They dress in an amus ing way.

C. They are un able to laugh at the way they dress.

D. They are less fashi on able tha n the other En glish people.

35. What may be the best title for the text?

A. How the En glish Dress

B. How the En glish Admire Fashi on

C. Why the En glish Like Un iforms

D. Why the En glish Are Ecce ntric in Dress

解析:极限法代入,当△m =m 时a=g ,排除CD ;补偿法:对整体分析,原来平衡,去掉△m ,合外力△m =(2mg -△m )a ,a 与△m 不成线性关系,选C

A Aerial(空中的)performer Jennifer Bricker was born without legs, but she never let it stop her. Wrapped in a loop(圈)of red silk hung from the ceiling Jennifer Bricker climbs and twists to the music. Her head hangs down and her strong arms let go as she balances on her back, high above the ground a move that’s all the more daring because she has no legs. Jennifer was a few months old when she was adopted by Sharon and Gerald Bricker. She had big brown eyes, a bright smile, and huge amounts of energy. When a doctor advised her adoptive parents to carry her around in a kind of bucket(桶), they refused. Jennifer soon learned to walk — and run — on her hands and bottom, and grew up fearlessly climbing trees and bouncing on the trampoline (蹦床)with her three older brothers. “ My parents didn’t treat me differently so I didn’t grasp the concept that I was different. I knew I didn’t have legs but that wasn’t stopping me from doi ng the things I wanted to do. " At the age of three she was fitted with artificial legs, but she never really took to them — she moved more freely without. In 1996 the Olympic Games took place in Atlanta. Jennifer loved to watch the women’s gymnastics team, and especially adored the 14-year-old Dominique Moceanu who competed for the US. When Moceanu and the women’s team won gold, Jennifer decided she was going to be a gymnast, too. She took up power tumbling, which involves performing floor exercises down a runway. But Jennifer did not want any allowances to be made for her disability. At the age of 10 she took part in the Junior Olympics and by age 11 she was tumbling champion for the state of Illinois. Jennifer now travels the world as an inspirational speaker and acts as an aerial performer.
