Dreaming of summer picnics filled with family and fun? We’ve come up with 4 of the top picnic areas across the US.

Cumberland Islands, Georgia

Just a few hours south of Savannah, this national seashore is a picnic paradise. It’s an unspoiled place in the Deep South with over 50 miles of hiking trails (小径). Covered in Spanish moss, the trails are lined with trees and since it’s still a rural area, the stars line up for a spectacular show at night and create the perfect evening starlit picnic opportunity.

Grant Park, Chicago

If you are looking for delicious food in Chicago, go for a taste of a 20-day, lake-front, foodie festival that happens in October each year. Grab a spot near the fountain to enjoy your picnic, appreciate the city scenery and lake views and relax with family and friends. If you are there on July 4th, be sure to plan the day to include the fireworks display at the Navy Pier.

Cranberry Islands, Maine

Here, you’ll enjoy natural picnics with island views. The islands are a delightful group of islands about 20 minutes offshore from Acadia National Park.

You can visit the islands by private boat or ferry (渡船) service. Bring a picnic basket along for the ride as it’s a romantic picnic area to take your special someone or go for a family outing to visit the islands.

Big Sur, California

If you are hungry, what do you do? Grab a piece of your favorite meal and stay quiet after that? Just like your stomach, even your mind is hungry. But it never lets you know, because you keep it busy thinking about your dream lover, favorite star and many such absurd things. So it silently began to pay careful attention to your needs and never let itself grow. When mind loosens its freedom to grow, creativity gets a full stop.

This might be the reason why we all sometimes think "What happens next?", "Why can't I think?", "Why am I always given the difficult problems?" Well this is the result of our own karma(宿命)of using our brain for thinking of not-so-worthy things.

Hunger of the mind can be actually settled through extensive reading. Now why reading and not watching TV? Because reading has been the most educative tool used by us right from the childhood. Just like that to develop other aspects of our life, we have to take help of reading. You have innumerable number of books in this world which will answer all your "How to?" questions. Once you read a book, you just don't run your eyes through the lines, but even your mind decodes (解码)it and explains it to you. The interesting part of the book is stored in your mind as a seed.

Now this seed is unknowingly used by you in your future to develop new ideas. The same seed if used many times, can help you link and relate a lot of things, of which you would have never thought of in your wildest dreams! This is nothing

lout creativity. The more the number of books you read, the more your mind will open up. Also this improves your speaking skills to a large extent and also makes a significant contribution to your vocabulary. Within no time you start speaking English or any language fluently with your friends or other people and you never seem to run out of the right words at the right time.

5. What does the author mean by saying that our mind is hungry?

A. We don't read books.

B. Our creativity gets a full stop.

C. We don't have a good memory.

D. We don't know what to do next.

6. One's mind is hungry because he/she .

A. can't work out things well

B. loosens the freedom to grow

C. is mentally busy with many absurd things

D. begins to pay careful attention to his needs

7. Which of the following is NOT the advantage of reading?

A. Helping you develop your creativity.

B. Helping you enlarge your vocabulary.

C. Helping you improve your speaking skills.

D. Helping you run your eyes through the lines.

8. By reading more, we are sure to .

A. perform better mentally in the future

B. dream the wildest dreams

C. store books in your mind

D. speak English fluently

In the depths of the French Guianese rainforest, there still remain unusual groups of indigenous(土著的)people. Surprisingly, these people live largely by their own laws and their own social customs. And yet, people in this area are in fact French citizens because it has been a colony of the French Republic since 1946. In theory, they should live by the French law. However, their remote locations mean that the French law is often ignored or unknown, thus making them into an interesting area of"lawlessness"in the world.

The lives of these people have finally been recorded thanks to the effects of a Frenchman form Paris called Gin. Gin spent five months in early 2015 exploring the most remote corners of this area, which sits on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, with half its population of only 250,000 living in its capital, Cayenne.

"I have a special love for the French Guianese people. I have worked there on and off for almost ten years," says Gin."I've been able to keep firm friendships with them. Thus I have been allowed to gain access to their living environment. I don't see it as a lawless land. But rather I see it as an area of freedom."

"I wanted to show the audience a photographic record touching upon the uncivilized life," continues Gin."I prefer to work in black and white, which allows me to show different specific worlds more clearly."

His black-and-white pictures present a world almost lost in time. These

pictures show people seemingly pushed into a world that they were unprepared for. These local citizens now have to balance their traditional self-supporting hunting lifestyle with the lifestyle offered by the modern French Republic, which brings with it not only necessary state welfare, but also alcoholism, betrayal and even suicide.

12. Why does the author feel surprised about the indigenous people in French Guiana?

A. They are separated from the modern world.

B. They often ignore the Guianese law.

C. They seldom follow the French law.

D. They are both Guianese and French citizens.

13. Gin introduced the special world of the indigenous Guianese as _________.

A. a tour guide

B. a photographer

C. a film director

D. a geographer

14. What is Gin's attitude towards the lives of the indigenous Guianese?

A. Cautious.

B. Appreciative.

C. Uninterested.

D. Doubtful.

15. What does the underlined word"it" in the last paragraph refer to?

A. The uncivilized world.

B. The self-supporting hunting.

C. The modern French lifestyle.

D. The French Republic.
