Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in

1.Create a situation about having a birthday party last week and family members took a photo together.

2.Show the photo on the big screen, and ask students to make a prediction about which one is the father and which one is the uncle.

3.Draw some stick figures as a family tree on the blackboard, and present some new words for students such as “uncle”, “parents”, “cousin”, and “aunt”, and lead students to learn these words according to the family tree.

Step 3 Practice

1.Read the words together

a. High and Low Voice: If the teacher reads the word in a high voice, the students should read the word in a low voice, and vice versa.

2.Play a game

Missing game: hide a word picture and ask students the following questions:

Ask students to draw a picture of their families and make an introduction about them. 5 minutes are given for them to prepare before inviting one or two students to share in the front.

2. Make a discussion

Students work in groups of four, and make a discussion about “How many people are there in your family? What do your parents look like?” And five minutes will be given. Then invite some groups to share their opinions.

Step 4 Summary and homework

Summary: invite one of the students as an assistant teacher to review what we have learned and make a summary with them together.

Homework: ask students to take a family photo with their family and share it with

classmates in the next class.
