W: Oh, yes. I’ll have a copy of today’s New York Times. That’ll be another sixty cents. Here’s my credit card.

W: It keeps on making this strange noise every time I start it. It’s like a “shh shh shh” sound, and it disappears as soon as I drive about one block.
M: How long has it had this problem?
W: I guess it’s been about a month.
M: Well, I can’t tell you much without taking a closer look,but I’m afraid we’re fully booked for the rest of the morning. Is there any way you can bring it back this afternoon?
W: Hmm, I don’t think so. I’ve got a meeting on the west side of town at three. Could I bring it back

W: I’m going there for a vacation with my parents. My parents don’t like watching football games, but they like Brazil, so we’ll go there this summer.

W: He’s going there to take part in a competition.

W: Have you heard about the RoboCup?
M: No. What is it?
W: The RoboCup is for people who love creating robots. During the event, some teams of robots will play football in a game.
M: Really? That sounds amazing. I had no idea that Mark creates robots!

M: Will you go and watch it?
W: Yes. I’ll go and cheer for Mark’s team.

M: Yes, of course. Otherwise, how am I going to pay the school fees for my third year in college?
W: I am thinking of working too, but my parents insist I have to spend some time with them during the summer.
You know, I haven’t seen them for two years.

W: My parents were volunteering in an organization in South America for the last couple of years.
M: In that case, it’s probably more important for you to visit them this summer.
W: That’s true, but I didn’t want to spend the whole summer at home. I want to make some money and pay off my tuition fees too.
M: Well, you can always get a loan. The rate is not high and the procedure is easy.
W: Loan? I hate the idea of borrowing. I would rather make my own money and pay it off.
M: I know, but it’s common for people to pay their school fees once they’ve graduated.
W: Yes, but that’s exactly what I didn’t want to get myself into. So what do I do about money?
M: Well, why not do both? You can work a part-time job when you are at home.
W: I was thinking about that but my parents think I should be at home with them full-time.
M: Well, I think you have to make a decision then.

W: Welcome to Language International. Could you please turn to page five? Now you see the lessons here begin every weekday at 9 a.m. The first class every Monday is grammar practice, followed by a visit to the language laboratory. After a break you have a double lesson of speaking skills.
Tuesday morning begins with a reading skills lesson and after the break, vocabulary development. In the afternoon you’ll go to the library, where you can read, watch a video or practice grammar.
Wednesday morning begins with pronunciation, then a special “Life in Britain” class. After the break is grammar practice once again.
On Thursday morning you have listening skills, and then what we call current affairs. You’ll listen to the news on the radio and discuss what’s going on. After the break it’s another double lesson of speaking skills.
Finally on Friday morning in the first lesson you will practice writing skills, followed by a lesson in the computer room. After the break is the weekly review period, where your teacher will help with any problems you may have. Oh, and don’t forget you can study on your own in the library every weekday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. as well, if you wish! Thank you.
