1. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The food we eat today is much healthier than in the past.

Sample Answer(独家原创)

In contemporary society, there is no consensus on whether the food we eat today is much healthier than in the past yet. Some people assert that modern food is harmful to our body as there is too much junk food, but other people stand on a very different ground. When faced with this issue, I find comfort in the idea that we own more knowledge of health and modern food is more beneficial.

First and foremost, we have accumulated much more abundant knowledge of health through experience and the food science. On the one hand, we care more about the cooking process of

meals as well as snacks and a variety of ads can be revealing of this. For example, a wide range of soft drinks such as green tea will specially point out that they do not contain any sugar or fat; another common snack, that is, potato chips, also is sometimes marked with “Not fried but baked”. On the other hand, we have been trying to keep a balanced diet since the idea of nutrition appeared, while the access to diverse foods enables us to cater to each individual’s taste and nutritional need more considerately and appropriately. As people are in different ages and are engaged in contrasting categories of careers, people must eat properly accordingly. In this way, we obviously no longer simply eat to stay alive; instead, we eat to keep fit.

What’s more, the development of technology has enabled us to secure and preserve food in a multitude of more innovative and effective ways than before. People in the past can just have newly prepared local food, which is prone to deteriorate in transportation and unfavorable weather conditions. Nowadays on the contrary, we have advanced technologies to plant, deliver and preserve either meat or vegetables. As a result, we feel confident and safe to consume fresh fruits not in season and to have a taste of some unique food native to other continents. For instance, a few Japanese restaurants claim that their salmon is delivered by plane on the present day of sale. So the progress in food science has hopeful promised a diet of multiplicity and safety.

Meanwhile, we cannot deny the fact that some merchants driven by interest use unqualified materials to make food, which are extremely harmful to people’s health. For example, some merchants use illegal cooking oil to fry food, and some sell food that has passed its shield life. However, our government spares no effort to ensure the safety of food, improving the quality of food as well. Hence, there is reason to believe that our health will not be threatened by the inferior food in the near future.

All in all, even though the advancement of technology helps money-oriented peddlers to make unqualified food, were there no development in modern technology and nutritional science, we cannot get access to a plenty of healthy foods. Thus, we are enjoying healthier food than in the past.

3. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? We should state our honest opinions even though other people may disagree with them.

Sample Answer

In order to build trust with friends, coworkers as well as business partners, and to achieve better outcome in various projects, one opinion firmly holds that people should tell their real thoughts even though others may hold contrary opinions. I agree with such a practice, for I believe honest communication is the key to a happy and successful life.

First of all, we need to tell our friends and family members how we really feel and what we really want, so as to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. Even if we should tell white lies to protect

other's feelings, we might end up with upsetting ourselves and in turn damaging our relationships with friends and family members. Once, my parents wanted to throw me a birthday party, planning to invite some of my best friends at school who liked the idea of having a picnic by a local lake. I accepted such a picnic party though I didn't really like it, as I always hate being exposed to sunlight for too long and various bugs in woods. That birthday party turned out to be a disaster, because I was grumpy all the time and was being rude. No one really enjoyed the party all because of my hiding of my real thoughts. This incident taught me that I should be honest with my friends and family all the time.

Furthermore, we need to talk frankly with our coworkers and business partners as well, so as to increase our work efficiency, to fully explore business potential and to minimize the chance to make mistakes. Different opinions should be allowed in business meetings and we should speak out aloud our opinions regardless of others' doubts and oppositions. For instance, Steve Jobs was known as bold and blunt. When everyone else doubted his idea of emphasizing iPhone's feature on various games, he insisted his idea and convinced those who didn't believe in him. At last his idea turned out to be a startling success. If Steve Jobs hadn't been completely honest with his colleagues, we wouldn't have witnessed such an electronic revolution the Apple Company has brought.

Though I'm still a student now and don't have colleagues at work, the same logic applies to group study as well. When doing group discussions and presentations, we should not hold back any of our thoughts. Only when every member of the group is contributing his or her ideas to the collective project, can the team reach its full potential. Discussions and arguments are not far off from the mark, because we can always find the best solution and be reconciled with friends.

In conclusion, I believe we should tell our opinions honestly regardless of others' doubts and oppositions.

4. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers were more appreciated and valued by the society in the past than they are now.

Sample Answer

It is universally well known that teachers are regarded as the engineers of people's souls. From which we can understand how important teachers are to our society. However, people's attitudes towards teachers have changed along with the development of the world. I personally believe that teachers are less appreciated by the society than they used to be.

One primary factor leading to this change is that the threshold for teaching is lower due to the more accessible education system. In the past, it was difficult for people to become a teacher partially because people did not have access to or couldn't afford to go to university to get the qualification for being a teacher. Those who did choose teacher as their occupation were rare and considered as real scholars, who were sincerely determined to do research and educate students. People respected them as they respected their intelligence, knowledge and the hardships they've been through the way to become a teacher. Nowadays, however, with the popularity of education and expansion of colleges, it becomes easier for people to be a teacher. Teaching as an

occupation lost its scarcity and hence becomes a common career choice.

Additionally, information explosion weakens the necessity of assistance from a teacher. Internet has facilitated people's lives in many ways, one of which is that it has made studying easier for students. In the past, teachers were people who possessed, in general, the most abundant amount of information in a certain specific field and who were the primary source of answers for students. However, when it comes to the contemporary society, students can basically search anything online as long as they have access to internet. For example, if a medical student wants to know about Malaria, without any guidance from his teacher, he is able to grasp a gist of the disease about its causes, symptoms, treatment and prevention in a short period of time after a simple search online. Yet it was difficult in the past to get the information you want without any assistance of a teacher.

Admittedly, general public's attitude towards teachers has changed. Teachers are no longer considered as sacred as they were in the past. I personally maintain that the improvement of education system and accessibility to internet are two main factors contributing to this change.

5. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents should give school-age children money as a reward for getting a high grade in school.

Sample Answer

Never before in the history has the problem of education been such salient than today. Since people treat education as much more important, parents are likely to create some new methods to motivate their children to become more passionate about study. Recently, the phenomenon that parents give their children money as a reward for getting high marks in school has aroused wide public concern. Some people express that it will change children’s attitude on study, making them believe that the purpose of study is just money. However, I contend that giving money to children as a reward is a good choice, whose merits far outweigh the possible drawbacks.

To start with, giving money to the children as a reward can stimulate children to study harder. When children get such feedback of their hard work, the study will become a happy job instead of just a boring duty. We cannot refute that sometimes study could be really boring, which equals to doing a lot of exercises, reading passages and working out numerous math problems. So setting a goal for children is necessary for them to keep their interests. If they could use the money to buy what they want as a gift, children will even feel on top of the world and study harder.

Another reason drives me to believe so is that, financial literacy as an important ability is immensely valuable to modern people, meaning that we need to teach our children how to manage their own pocket money. Given the chance to receive money as a reward, children will learn to how to earn and manage their own money. So parents should make full use of this opportunity to introduce to their kids some survival skills other than school study. For instance, my mother used to give me some money as a reward whenever I got a full score in the midterm and final exams during middle school. Thus I started my own account in the bank and after that, I would periodically save money and develop such a habit. I must say this saving account has

helped me go through my darkest period of looking for a job after graduation.

Admittedly, it is unwise to give too much money to children, since that will distract their attention from study and even lead to their bad habits. The goal of money reward is to encourage children and tell them to move forward. So, it will be fine to do so only if we can make sure that children will not misunderstand the meaning of the reward and keep a positive and proper attitude to the money.

Judging from what I’ve mentioned above, I should reinforce my perspective that it is good for parents to give their children money as a reward for getting high mark in school.

6. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to take a secure job with a low pay than to take a job with a high pay but is easy to lose.

Sample Answer

What we all know is that the employment figures are becoming increasingly unpromising these years. A big portion of young people are faced with the dilemma whether they should take a secure job with relatively low payment, or a risky job with high payment. Some elders hold the view that it is better for youngsters to have a stable job, for it will help them to settle down and support their family more quickly. But I can partially agree with that since people in different age process may have different choices about occupation.

When it comes to those who have to acquire a secure job to support families, a stable job is a wise choice. The most typical examples come from the businessmen who were desperate in the economic crisis. Commonly reported in newspapers then was that a businessman who lost all his assets because of the financial downturn chose to commit suicide. It must be a devastating news to his family! As a man working in the Wall Street, he must have a quite decent payment and an illustrious appearance in front of the public. But high payment also means high risks; when a person seeks high incomes, he need prepare to confront the risk of losing job as well. However, a government officer does not need to worry about unemployment and besides, he can spare more time to accompany his families and to develop his own hobbies in leisure time. All this is simply unimaginable for a busy businessman, not to mention those having continuous family conflicts resulting from too busy work. Therefore, for people who have families, a sedentary job is an appropriate option.

But, as I have presented in the first part of the essay, stable jobs are not always the best choice, especially for the young people, as most of steadfast jobs are dead-end jobs. Young people with enthusiasm and ambitions won't accept such a dull job without any challenges. Moreover, the young stand on the beginning stage of life, a large part of them without enough deposit to establish their own enterprise, thus they call for money as preparation for buying house, raising children, getting married as well as starting business. They are young and have the aspiration and superiority in age to chase high-paid jobs. It sounds reasonable for them to make this choice, venturing to get highly paid.

In conclusion, either choosing a secure job but with low payment or a high risky job but easy to

lose is plausible. More importantly, people should try to know who they are and figure out what they really want.

As the economy and technology develop at an incredible speed in today’s society, there are an increasing number of people believing that the most important problems affecting our society today could be solved within our lifetime. In my view, however, this is out of the question and the three most significant problems affecting the society, namely war, environmental destruction and disease, will still influence us and may not be entirely resolved forever. War is a problem afflicting humans since they took into being in the first place. Wars take place when different countries have conflicting benefits, which is unlikely to be eliminated as long as the boundaries between countries still exist. For instance, in the Middle East where water is extremely scarce, many countries are in conflict in contention for water resources. Since every country acts for the sake of its own benefit, it seems that people in the region are incapable of living together in harmony. Eternal world peace, therefore, is unlikely to be achieved in our lifetime. Environmental destruction emerged not long before but it is becoming increasingly severe and can not be ignored. With the large-scale utilization of fossil fuels and rapid development of industry, huge amounts of pollutants are being produced, contaminating the environment to a large degree. The disposal of these pollutants being a tough task, it is hardly possible that we can completely get rid of them within a short period of time. Furthermore, even if we can come up with optimal methods for dealing with these substances, there remains the problem that these methods may cost too much and obstruct the development of economy. Last but not least, the well-being of people around the world is threatened by a variety of diseases, ranging from AIDS to cancer, the cures for which have not been discovered yet. Diseases set off panics among humans, affect their normal life and leave people badly off with the high medical expenses. There are thousands of scientists devoting themselves to finding cure for diseases, but new types of diseases keep emerging and there is no eliminating all of them. In summary, the problems with the most significance today are going to be passed on to our offspring. To eliminate these problems thoroughly, there is still a long way to go.

Individuals whoever want to have a better control of one’s life must equip themselves with some essential skills or abilities. Planning and organizing, which embodies the skill of anticipating, influencing, and controlling, in my view, is becoming gradually important in coping with today’s complication especially for the young who are always the most passionate but also with less self-control. First of all, planning helps keep one on course in achieving goals and crystallize objectives. Young people always possess some grand dreams which may take years to accomplish. Planning ahead, on the one hand, could effectively put one on the right track thus prevent energy from being scattered or wasted. A survey conducted by experts from Oxford University shows that over 90% of elites and enterprisers had precise objects and made plans for decades later at very young age. Like Bill Gates, one of the most prominent persons I have ever seen, discontinued their studies since he was definite aware of what he should do in order to become the leader of IT field. On the other hand, plans, which are organized step by step, could turn the ultimate goals into several achievable ones. With achievable objective achieved one by one, the ultimate goal will finally be attained. Besides, planning and organizing help to promise one’s best performance in most occasions. Panning means trying to anticipate all the possibilities and arrange things in a scientific order. It clearly tells people what to do currently and what should do the next, which prevents disorder or chaos. Thus, people may feel assured and will be with less stress. For example, a student who sticks to a study plan is less likely to be nervous thus will be more likely to have better performance than those who crams for tests. Today youngsters are exposed with fierce competitions but also abundant opportunities. Good performance is key to hold these opportunities in hand. It is undeniable that our society changes at such a quick pace that we cannot plan everything in previous. But this by no means implies that the ability is not important. Without a plan, complex things will only get more complicated. Abraham Lincoln reportedly once said, “If I had 60 minutes to cut down a tree, I would spend 40 minutes sharpening the ax and 20 minutes cutting it down.” Planning is just like “sharpening the ax”, which will no doubt facilitate a task easy done. All in all, though the ability of planning and organizing may not be omnipotent for people

托福写作辅导:托福考试满分作文欣赏(1) Which one do you prefer, to solve problems on your own experience and knowledge, or to ask others for advice? As knowledge and experience serve as twim towers in problem-solving, one is often presented with two major paths that pave the way for final fulfillment, eitther to wrack his brain, just like what happened to Neuton, siiting for many years under an apple tree and eventually figuring out ond of the greatest universal rules that govern the whole globe, or to seek for others ’ widsom through their advice, just as in the case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. Both ways work. When a practical goal is involved, however, Benjimin Franklin may best be regareded as a role model in this respect and asking people for advice often turn out to be the prime alternative. Experience and knowledge borrowed or learned from others’ advice contribute greatly to effectiveness and effeciency for a goal-accomplishment. Not all experience and knowledge related to problem-solving can be obtained by personal effort alone due to limitations of mind and capabilities of each individual. A single thought in someone’s mind is, more often than not, far less shining compared with group ’s wisdom. That explains the famous old saying that one sees further when standing upon the shoulders’ of past great giants; that explains why a great leader is always with greater minds; that also explains why teamwork in corperation is highly emphasized in the 21st century. Brainstorm and exchange of ideas between different thoughts never fail to enhance capabilities of each individula involved, a team, a company, an institution, a country, or even the entire global village. Asking others’ advice instead of getting everything done on one’s own promotes democracy and communication too. In terms of democracy, it is necessary to give others rights and chances to speak since the problem may concern them in different ways, and their saying in turn reflects our respect toward freedom of speech as well as their wisdom. In terms of communication, idea exchange sometimes focuses more than solutions, and hereby better mutual understanding about perspectives, principles, praticalities and personalities of each other. Admittely turning to others for help and suggestion by no means refers to absolute and irresponsible dependence. Consideration upon different thoughts and ideas broadens our mind, enlarges our vision, furthers understanding, enhances more effective and efficient brainstorm, and stresses mutual respect in groups and communities, which undoubtedly gives rise to better, if not the best solutions. As is paraphrasedfrom John F Kenedy, brainstormed, there is little we cannot do while divided, there is little we can do. 托福写作辅导:托福考试满分作文欣赏(2) Case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. One of the most significant changes is the issue of whom we young people depend on when making a decision. In the past, young people usually depended on their older family members, especially their parents. However, in contemporary society, we young adults tend to make choice on our own. Here are the reasons. Admittedly, in the past, the ways they acquired information, most of which come from experience, were limited. It was parents who are much more experienced than their children. In this case, they tended to listen to parents’ advice and let them to control determination. As we all know, over the several decades, parents made the decision for their children who they would marry with in China. At that time, girls had no chance to meet the young men with the same age. However, their parents had the permission to know their children’s future partners through various ways. Without doubt, it was a right choice to depend on their parents when making a decision in the past. However, we can get access to a great amount of information, which do good to decision making nowadays.
