一、高中英语阅读理解时文广告类

1.阅读理解

Jane Austen is loved mainly as a charming guide to fashionable life in the Regency period (英国摄政时期). She is admired for describing a world of elegant houses, dances, servants and fashionable young men driving barouches (四轮四座大马车). But her own vision of her task was completely different. She was an ambitious and strict moralist. She was highly conscious of human failings and she had a deep desire to make people nicer: less selfish, more reasonable and more sensitive to the needs of others.

In Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bonnet start off heartily disliking each other and then, gradually realize they are in love. They make one of the great romantic couples. He is handsome, rich and well connected; she is pretty, smart and lively. But why actually are they right for one another?

Jane Austen is very clear. It's for a reason we tend not to think of very much today: It is because each can educate and improve the other. When Mr. Darcy arrives in the neighborhood, he feels "superior" to everyone else, because he has more money and higher status. At a key moment, Elizabeth condemns his arrogance (自大) and pride to his face. It sounds offensive in the extreme, but later he admits that this was just what he needed.

Mostly, we tend to think of love as liking someone for who they already are, and of total acceptance. But the person who is right for us, Austen is saying, is not simply someone who makes us feel relaxed or comfortable; they got to be able to help us overcome our failings and become more mature, more honest and kinder—and we need to do something similar for them.(1)What do we know about Jane Austen from paragraph 1?

A. She lived a fashionable life.

B. He is handsome, rich and rather modest.

C. He is kind to everyone in the neighborhood.

D. He needs Elizabeth to point out his shortcomings.

(3)Which person is right for you according to Jane Austen?

A. A person that you like for who he or she is.

B. A person with whom you feel really relaxed.

C. A person making you become a better man or woman.

D. A person who does something similar to you.

(4)What message does the book Pride and Prejudice convey?

If you have never been on a cruise (乘船游览), it can seem like its own world—with its own rules and secret language. So here we are going to lay out the very basics of going on a cruise.

Do I need a passport to go on a cruise?

You may need a passport, but you should take one anyway. Besides the fact that you are going to need an ID card to board the ship in the first place, a lot of ports require one.

How much luggage can I take on board?

For the most part, cruise ships aren't like planes—there isn't a strictly regulated amount of luggage you can take with you, and you are not going to be charged for bringing too much. Keep in mind that cabin storage space can be tight. Everything, including your empty luggage, is going

to have to fit inside and you don't want to be tripping over it for your whole vacation.

Things like guns and knives are banned, but regulations vary from ship to ship about things like irons (generally a no) and hair dryers (generally a yes). Some ships allow you to bring a bottle of wine, but nearly all ban bringing your own hard alcohol.

What's the process for boarding a cruise ship?

Boarding a cruise ship is like boarding a plane—there are regulations or when to arrive, how to check-in, and what security you have to go through. Most cruise lines have transportation available from the airport; otherwise they normally own a paid parking lot where you can leave your car.

(1)What will you have to show when you board a ship in the first place?

A. A credit card.

B. A post card.

C. An ID card.

D. Luggage.

(2)What can you take when you are on a cruise?

A. As much alcohol as you can.

B. More luggage than on a plane.

C. Less luggage than on a plane.

D. As many guns and knives as you can.

(3)Where does the text probably come from?

A. A storybook.

B. A guidebook.

C. A book review.

D. A science report.

【答案】(1)C

6.阅读理解

The spine (脊柱) stands at the center of your health, providing your body with structure and support. It also contains a major collection of nerves that deliver electric signals from the rest of the body to your brain. So it's important to take care of it.

Staying in a good position is one of the most important things to keep your spine healthy. A proper position means standing or sitting while keeping your spins straight, except for its natural bending. Positions play a vital part even when you're asleep. Stomach sleeping is far from a good

idea. Many people prefer sleeping on their side, which is in the interests of their spine. Sleeping on your back has lots of benefits yet can cause lower back pain and put some pressure on your spine.

Staying still for too long — even if your position is good — can be hard on your back. Especially if you work at a task most of the day, it's important to get up and stretch (伸展) periodically. Strength exercises with light weights like push-ups can also help by strengthening the muscles. However, don't overdo the exercise, as repeated movements can hurt the muscles around the spine, as trying to lift heavy weights with poor technique.

Vitamins also affect the health of your spine. In particular, vitamin B and omega-3 fatty acids help keep nerves healthy. Another important part is vitamin D, which is required for strong bones. Vitamin D can come from some foods, but it's also absorbed from sunlight, so it may help to do some exercises outside. At last, many of the actions necessary to keep a spine healthy are similar to those used to protect your health in other ways. So protect your back, and the rest of the body will benefit.

(1)Which sleeping position is best for our spine according to the passage?

A. B. C. D.

(2)What is suggested in paragraph 3?

A. Strengthening muscles around the spine.

B. Repeating a certain movement more.

C. Doing a proper amount of exercise.

D. Staying still in a good position.

(3)What can we infer about vitamins?

A. Vitamin B reacts with omega-3 fatty acids.

B. Abundant vitamin D guarantees strong bones.

C. Vitamin D can't be absorbed without sunlight.

D. Doing push-ups outside increases vitamin D intake.

(4)What is the best title for the text?

A. Stay still, stay healthy

B. Good position, good spine

C. Healthy means, healthy spine

D. Proper exercise, proper weight

【答案】(1)A

(2)C

The Great Depression that followed the stock market crash of 1929 saw hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work. In the years of great fear and depression, a lot of American citizens looked desperately to the federal government for assistance. Of all the programs designed by President Roosevelt when he took office in 1932, few were more criticized - or had more lasting impact - than the Work Projects Administration, better known as the WPA.

The intention of the WPA, which functioned from 1935 to 1943, was to design and administer public works projects to help relieve unemployment. The majority of these projects involved historic or artistic attempts. The WPA's Writers Project, for example, was responsible not only for such practical works as state guidebooks but also for the collection of historically valuable oral histories. Over 2,900 of these records were collected in 24 states. They provide an irreplaceable firsthand account of people's diets, customs, celebrations, and political and religious beliefs at the time.

The artworks created through the Federal Arts Project are one of the WPA's most lasting

achievements. Out - of - work painters, both famous and unknown, created paintings that beautified schools, libraries, and government buildings, WPA photographers traveled across the country recording the hardships of life on small rural farms. When the United States entered World War Ⅱ in 1941, WPA artists were enlisted to produce posters supporting the war effort. Many WPA artworks, including hundreds of small drawings picturing scenes of everyday life, still exist today.

A. By examples.

B. By comparison.

C. Through a true story.

D. Through a persuasive argument.

(4)What's the main idea of the text?

A. President Roosevelt designed the WPA

B. The WPA helped relieve unemployment.

C. WPA artists painted pictures in schools and libraries.

8.阅读理解

History is full of tales of great ideas taking shape in sleeping minds; Paul McCartney said that he awoke with the tune of Yesterday in his head, and Robert Louis Stevenson said that the idea for The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde came to him in a dream.

Scientists believe that the mind at night puts together bits of information in creative ways. Throughout the day your brain rarely gets a chance to stop and think. It constantly responds to a stream of challenges, from writing a report for a work deadline to remembering where you left your car keys and figuring out what to buy for dinner.

"Think of your brain like a web," says Russell Foster, Professor of Neuroscience at Oxford University. "During the day the web is very tight, so you can only put information in a certain number of places. During sleep the web expands, and with the luxury of time, those bits of information can be put into lots of different places and make new associations."

He adds that this process may help to foster the formation of new ideas. "This bringing together of seemingly unrelated bits of information is vital to helping the brain think itself out of problems," says Russell Foster.

"Sleep seems to allow your mind to make non-obvious connections. It puts all the information from the day into a big biological theatre and forces the mind to speak to people at the back of the theatre, who you may not think you have any connection with. This is the basis of creativity connecting ideas, events and memories that wouldn't normally fit together.

By placing volunteers into brain scanners and sending them to sleep, scientists have seen that the areas associated with emotion go into overdrive, especially while dreaming, while the areas that are responsible for logic (逻辑)are switched off. This not only explains why dreams are unbelievably random-you can be talking to a colleague one minute and the next minute sitting in your old school classroom dressed in your nightclothes-but also explains how the brain can put together different information.

(1)In what way are the mind at night and the mind during the day different?

A. The ways to receive information.

B. The ways to provide information.

C. The ways to process information.

D. The ways to exchange information.

(2)According to Russell Foster, what may bring out creativity?

A. Information put together in normal ways.

B. Information put together in unusual ways.

C. Information stored in a biological theatre.

D. Information stored in the mind.

(3)Which can replace "go into overdrive", underlined in the last paragraph?

A. Start being active.

B. Return to normal.

C. Stop working.

D. Perform badly.(4)What can be a suitable title for the text?

A. The Creative Power of the Brain

B. Great Works from Sleep

C. Never Believe Your Sleeping Minds

D. Sleep Can Bring Creative Ideas

In a win for literary fiction amid declining sales, Sally Rooney's novel Normal People has been named Waterstones book of the year in 2018.

Rooney's second novel, which follows two young people falling in love in Ireland, has sold 41, 000 copies in hardback in the UK since it was released in August-five times the hardback sales of her 2017 debut, Conversations With Friends. At 27, Rooney is now the youngest winner of the award, which is given by the UK's biggest bookshop chain, Waterstones.

Normal People received almost universal applause upon its release. Longlisted for the Man Booker prize, the book won novel of the year at the An Post Irish book awards in November of 2018 and has also been shortlisted for the Costa novel of the year, announced in January of 2019. The reader response to Normal People had been astonishing. As well as the universal praise, it has been a huge word- of-mouth (口头的) hit. There're customers returning to buy multiple copies as gifts. Normal People strengthened Sally Rooney's reputation as the voice of her generation and one of the most exciting novelists around today. Its success is a testament to the health of literary fiction and indicates that there is still significant appetite for excellent storytelling.

The award, established in 2012, tends to go to books that are already bestsellers near Christmas. It has previously been won by the late American author John Williams's Stoner, the cookbook Polpo by Russell Norman, and last year's choice, Philip Pullman's La Belle Sauvage. James Daunt, Waterstones' managing director, said Rooney's win was a sign of the healthy state of literary fiction, which has seen sales decrease over the last decade. "We are delighted to name it our book of the year," he said.

(英语)英语阅读理解练习题含答案及解析

一、中考英语阅读理解汇编 1.阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C三个选项中,选出最佳选项。 What will the world of the future be like? There are plenty of people who are happy to give their opinion of what we will be doing in 2050. Here are two predictions about the world of tomorrow. When we dream about the future, many like to think of owning a personal flying car. The advantages are obvious. This technology would allow total freedom of movement. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, some people believe there will be problems with traffic control. If the cars become popular, there is likely to be air traffic jam. Another big problem is mechanical failure. What will happen if the cars stop working? These are problems we must expect if flying cars become a reality. Three-dimensional printing is another new technology with exciting possibilities. 3D printers are used to build an object with liquid plastic. They build the object layer by layer until it is complete. Car companies already use 3D printers to make life-size models of car parts, and medical companies use the technology to make man-made body parts. As we move into the future, 3D printing will revolutionize the way we shop, the way we manufacture and the way we treat sick people. The disadvantage is that such equipment will be extremely expensive. So in the future, we might be able to fly to work or print out new shoes. Although there are some problems to solve before this will be possible, we can certainly dream of a world where technology makes life easier and safer for millions of people. (1)What is the passage mainly about? A. Environmental protection. B. The world of tomorrow. C. Advantages of technology. (2)What do we learn from the passage? A. Some people think technology development may bring new problems B. 3D printing can bring great changes to our life and its equipment is cheap. C. The flying cars won't bring air traffic jam even when they become popular.

新高考赢在阅读高二英语时文阅读专版(含原文翻译及答案解析)

新高考赢在阅读高二英语时文阅读专版(含原文翻译及答案解析) A Josh Gad's Olaf showed insanely hot skills singing "Unmeltable Me" for "Frozen II". But the hilarious (欢闹的) tune never made it into the animated hit: It was cut from the movie after his vocals were recorded and storyboards had been drawn up. The missing: “Unmeltable Me”is revealed now at https://www.360docs.net/doc/8e15033393.html,, ahead of the home release of “Frozen II”, which features the deleted scene as an extra. The ditty was the first song written for the sequel. The new song features Gad's Olaf singing style, playing harpsichord (羽管键琴) accompaniment. The instrument was requested by directors for comedic reasons. The harpsichord arrangement made it funny and different. The filmmakers originally wanted “Unmeltable Me”to explain an important story point –why Olaf no longer needed the magical “flurry”cloud Elsa had created at the end of "Frozen" to keep the snowman from melting in warm weather. Creating the flurry effect was so difficult for the animators that the directors decided Elsa would have perfected a permafrost coating for Olaf by the second movie. The scene features Olaf doing just about everything to show off his new permafrost coating, from sticking a lit candle into his head to placing his head in a Sterno-heated buffet tray. Olaf's audience in the scene is a group of dignitaries who have traveled to Arendelle from around the world to meet the powerful Elsa at a state dinner. Elsa and Anna are held up, so Olaf fills time entertaining the assembled guests with the song. Sadly, “Unmeltable Me”was cut before it could be fully animated. Gad’s Olaf still received his big song in “Frozen 2”singing “When IAm Older”happily.“Unmeltable Me' is definitely fun, but that’s show business,”says Lopez, who especially loves how Olaf ends the song on an unusual high note. 1. What can we learn from the song “Unmeltable Me”in the first paragraph? A. The song “Unmeltable Me”was sung by Elsa. B. The song can make this movie into a animated hit. C. The song was created for the movie. D. The song was recorded in the movie at last. 2. What does the underlined word “revealed”in Paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Show. B. Hide. C. Create. D. Delete. 3. What is the purpose of using permafrost coating? A. To entertain the audience. B. To prevent Olaf from melting. C. To make the movie funny. D. To explain show business. 4. What can we know from the passage? A. This movie is directed by Josh Gad. B. Olaf likes his new permafrost coating. C. Josh Gad’s attitude is passive because his song was cut from the movie. D. The scene of the song is not mentioned in the article. B Google’s Search Engine Can Recommend Your Favorite Shows and Movies

英语阅读理解专项习题及答案解析及解析

英语阅读理解专项习题及答案解析及解析 一、高中英语阅读理解 1.阅读理解 Every day I see advertisements in the newspapers and on the buses claiming that it is easy and quick to learn English. There is even a reference to William Shakespeare or Charles Dickens to encourage learners even more. When I see advertisements like this, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. But many people must believe these ridiculous claims, or else the advertisements would not appear. Of course it is clear that students who go to England to learn English have a great advantage over others, but too many cannot afford to do so. Some go to the opposite extreme and think they can teach themselves at home with dictionaries. But it is wrong to assume that each word in English has a precise equivalent in another language, let alone produces good pronunciation and intonation. Most teaching is still based on behaviorist psychology. Behaviorists are fond of making students repeat phrases and making sentences. If we were parrots or chimpanzees, these methods might be successful. A large number of theorists seem to think it is a pity we aren't, because it would make it easier to use their methods. In my personal opinion, no one can ever learn to speak English or any other language unless he is interested in it. Human beings, unlike parrots and chimpanzees, do not like making noises unless they understand what the noises mean and can relate them to their own lives. It is worth remembering that language is a means of communication. What they listen to and read cannot be a formula. It must be real. There is another relevant point worth mentioning here. We need other people to talk to and listen to when we communicate. They can work with us and practice the unfamiliar forms with us in real situations, talking to each other about real life language. (1)Many people believe advertisements in the newspapers and on the buses probably because . A. they are encouraged by William Shakespeare or Charles Dickens B. they are eager to learn and then believe them C. the ways advertised can help them to save time and efforts D. the ways advertised prove effective and helpful (2)What may behaviorists argue towards English learning? A. Human beings make more interesting noises than parrots and chimpanzees. B. Human beings should relate their speech to their own lives. C. Language is a formula with lots of repetitions and practices. D. Language is a means of communication. (3)What opinion does the author hold? A. A quick method that suits all the students does exist. B. English can be mastered within a very short period of time. C. Each word in English has a precise equivalent in another language. D. No one can learn English well without being interested in it.

新高考高一英语时文阅读精编(含答案解析) A Coronavirus (冠状病毒) has infected more than 170,000 people across the world, and the virus is expected to peak in the UK in the coming weeks. Professor Chris Whitty said on March 12 that he expects the UK would reach the peak of its coronavirus outbreak in about 10 to 14 weeks. The NHS is currently advising you to self-isolate for seven days if you have symptoms of coronavirus, like a high temperature, or a new continuous cough. If you have travelled to a badly affected area, or have been in contact with someone with the disease, you will also need to self-isolate. Staying at home will help to control the spread of the virus. When you self-isolate, you need to stay away from public places. This means you cannot take your pets out for walks in public places. With more time indoors, it’s also a good idea to plan how you can keep your pet occupied while self-isolating. If you’ve been diagnosed with coronavirus, you should inform your local health protection team that there is a pet in the household. They will touch with the relevant animal health authorities. If your pet shows signs of ill health, please do not take them to the vet. Contact your local health protection team for advice. The RSPCA have also issued tips for keeping your pets and family safe while self-isolating. If you haven’t tested positive or been asked to self-isolate then continue to interact with your pets as normal but adopt good hygiene (卫生) practices including washing hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after touching them, their food, toys and bedding.
