Competition and cooperation

Competition is now a common phenomenon in our society. We compete when we play games, we try to do better than others in our study, and we often compete for jobs, customers, money, and so on so forth. To some extent, we can say, competition is an important motive force of our life.

We often find competition and cooperation occurring at the same time. For example,

during a football game, one team is competing with the other, but each member of the team must cooperate with his teamm ates. In most cases, we can’t compete without cooperation. Therefore, competition and cooperation are equally important in our life. While we are advocating competition, we can’t forget cooperation. As a primary source of information as well as an efficient means of communication, the Internet offers people a colourful and convenient life. For its convenience, the Internet has attracted people like magnets and some people even cla im that it is indispensable. To them, life can’t go on without it. As for me, I don’t approve of unrestra ined Internet reliance. There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a

lot. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to

protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in

the environmental protection today.

In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even

more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over

the world. For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories. Trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers. Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.

The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have

realized these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. I hope the problem will be solved in the near future and our home will become better and better.

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over

the world. With the development of industry and agriculture, cars make

great noises and give off poisonous gas. Trees on the hills have been cut down, and waste water is being poured continuously in to rivers. Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. The whole ecological balance of the earth is changing. Massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence.

We must face the situation that exists and take actions to solve

our environmental problems. For instance, new laws must be passed to place strict control over industrial pollution, the public must receive the education about the hazard of pollution and soon. We hope that all these measures will be effective and bring back a healthful environment.

Private cars，in most developed countries，used to be the counterpart of bicycles in China. Nevertheless，more and more Chinese people have cars of their own nowadays. There are sound reasons for the limitation of private cars in China. First，it is self evident that the automobile contributes much to air pollution. More private cars will inevitably aggravate the present situation. Second，private cars can be a formidable threat to the traffic. To tell the truth，today many people can afford a car，if a large number of private cars rush onto the streets，the already dense traffic will suffer more. Last but not the least，the automobile consumes energy. We always proudly claim our country is rich in natural resources. But in the mean time，we need to remember we also have a large population. We do have rich resources of energy，but speaking of energy，we can not smile with ease.

Therefore，I sincerely believe that private cars should be discouraged in China. Then，by what means shall we limit private cars？Since people buy private cars mainly for convenience，my first suggestion is to develop adequate public transportation which is effective and punctual. At the same time，we should raise the price of gasoline to a prohibitive level so as to make car－driving expensive enough. All in all，private cars，from my point of view，should be limited in China.

In addition, the popularization of private cars may lead people to a luxurious and lazy life.

In conclusion, though there are many favorable aspects to attract people to possess private cars, as far as my family is concerned, I don’t think it is very necessary and useful
