Getting to Know the Society

It is necessary for college students to know the world outside the campus. This is because the society is developing so fast that if we don't keep an eye on what is happening outside the campus, we will have no idea what to learn to keep pace with the development. As a result, it will be difficult for us to secure an ideal job after graduation; it will be impossible for us to contribute to the development of the society.

There are many ways for us to get to know the world outside the school. First of all, we should be well informed about the happenings both at home and abroad with the help of mass media such as radio, television, newspapers, and the Internet. Moreover, we should do more practical social services so as to cultivate our social skills, widen our insight and enrich our social experience.

As for me, I intend to participate in as many social practices as possible and at the same time, hold a part time job in my spare time to get to know more about the society.

2008年The Best Means of Transportation

Nowadays, lots of people in china can afford and would like to buy private cars, which can bring them to anywhere they want at any time they like. With the continuously increasing of private cars, air pollution and traffic problems trouble us a lot, however. There are, actually, a lot of means of transportation for us to take, when we go out.

Considering people’s health, environment protection and energy conservation, public transportation ought to be the best means.

Firstly, t aking public transportation will boost your health. When you don’t drive, you will need to walk to the bus station or the subway station. This gives you an opportunity to do exercise.

The second advantage of using public transportation is that it helps to improve our living environment. It has become a common knowledge that cars produce tons of waste gas that cause the air pollution. The waste gas contains a lot of toxic chemicals, which will do harm to our organs and cause diseases. If we drive less and take more public transportation, the air quality

will become better and better, the environment will be cleaner and cleaner and we will be healthier and healthier.

The last advantage of taking public transportation is that it saves our energy to some extent. With the same litre of gasoline, a bus can take more people to some further places than a private car can do. What a waste, if you, alone, drive your car to the office without sharing with other fellows！All in all, if you love yourself, if you want to be healthy, please start from taking public transportation from now on.

Why I Attended College？

Why did I choose to attend college? Is the four-year academic life worthwhile? I have put these questions to myself at many times in the past two years, and now I have reached the conclusion that college education is something that I truly want and it is worthwhile.

I chose to attend college because I enjoy learning. I felt that I wanted to continue to study, I simply couldn’t end my education upon graduation from the high school and enter the working world so soon.

I chose to attend college also because I feel college is more than a place which offers knowledge. It also exposes one to a rich variety of ideas and help.

Finally, I feel that in today’s world, a college education has become almost essential if one wishes to compete in the job market. Attending college is a practical and necessary step to ensure a secure future for myself.

Money

Money is what everybody desires. It can be used to buy food, clothes, books, bicycle, furniture and many other things people need or want.

Money is considered by many people as the most important thing in life. With money, they can go wherever they please and do whatever they want. With money, they can buy a fine house to live in, fashionable clothes to put on, and a nice bicycle to ride. And with money, they can employ attendants to serve them. In a word, money can make people comfortable and bring them happiness.

However, money is also the source of all crimes and brings them misery. Since money is so tempting, quite a few people are attracted by it and begin to go astray. By hook or by crook, they try to make money. To get more money, they gamble, swindle, steal, rob or do many other evil things, for "money makes the mare go". As a result, money leads them to jail or even to the execution grounds.

Of course money is useful and desirable, yet we should make money in proper way and spend our money on proper things.

Dear President,

Thank you for reading my letter. My name is Kang Yan, And I’m a student at the college. I’d like to say something about the usage of mobile phone among college students.

Nowadays, more and more college students use mobile phone on college campus not for its convenience but for its fashion and popularity. On the other hand, using mobile phone affects the normal teaching order to some extent. In the lecture, sometimes we hear the phone ring here and there, and some of students send short messages now and then. As a result we could n’t concentrate on our work.

It is almost known to all that smoking is bad for people’s health. Scientific researchs show that s moking can lead to heart disease,cancer and other problem.The World Health Organization says diseases linked to smoking kill at least two million five-hundred-thousand persons each year.

Still,many people find it difficult to stop smoking.One reason is that smoking usually becomes a habitual behaviour,and habits,whether good or bad are not easy to be given up.Another reason i s the effect of nicotine,the substance found in cigarettes works on people somewhat as drugs do .

Measures have been taken to help people keep away from the harm of smoking.In many cities,s moking is forbidden in public places.The danger of smoking is warned of everywhere.And newsp apers are asked not to publish advertisements for cigarettes.World "No Tobacco Day" is observe d every year as the biggest compaign against smoking.

Smoking

What’s more, smoking is harmful not only to smokers themselves but also to other people around them,especially to women and children.

Still, many people find it difficult to stop smoking. For them, giving up smoke is impossible. First, they are so addicted to it that they can’t help smoking at any time. Secondly, they are always find excuses for their bad habit such as to be relaxing, to relieve tiredness, and so on.

First of all, many responsible manufactures have printed a warning: “smoking is harmful to your health.” Secondly, smoking has been banned in many public places. Thirdly, the government is making laws to forbid some ads on TV or newspaper to avoid its negative effects.

My view on Examination

I think it is very necessary and helpful for both students and teachers to take examination. From examination, students can find out how well they have mastered their lessons. On the other hand, teachers can check students’ preference and their teaching method as well.

But examination still has its disadvantages. For example, to a degree, high scores doesn’t necessarily mean excellent ability or creativity in dealing with different situations. In order to get high marks, some students pay too much attention to their lessons, they may have no enough time to develop their talents in music, painting, playing, etc.

So, in my opinion, we should give students more chances to study hard and to develop their own interest, so as to get a balance between high scores and excellent ability.

Staying Healthy

Good health is the most valueable possession a person can have. There is no denying the importance of health. Without it, it is difficult to live a happy life no matter how much money or success one has. In order to maintain our good health and lead lives that are as fulfilling as possible, it is important to take some steps.

The first step is to keep regular hours and stick to a healthy, balanced diet. This is the basis of good health. Our bodies need sufficient nutrition and rest in order to function well and resist illness. The second step is to get regular exercise. Moderate exercise, such as walking, can have great benefits for our health if done on a regular basis. Third, I suggest seeing a doctor for an annual checkup. A doctor can often diagnose problems before they become serious enough to be apparent to us. Last but not least, take time to relax and renew your spirits and mental energy every day. This is just as essential as physical exercise because mental state often has a profound influence on our physical health. As the saying goes, “A sound mind in a sound body.”

There are many things that we can do to stay healthy. The important thing is to value our health and not neglect it. This means making healthy habits a part of our everyday life. If we simply develop a healthy way of living we are bound to live healthier, more satisfying lives.

一、My hobby

Different people have different hobbies ,such as reading and so on.But my hobby is listen to music and sports .

I like music when i 10 years old . I love many kinds of music:such as pop music,rock music and so on.It make me feel relaxing when I listening music. I think music can bring me a lot of fun and happy.As a resultI'm very happy now!

As well as listen to music and i like spots, too. I like basketball. And when I finish my homework I like playing basketball with my friends.My hobby makes me happy and relaxing .I will continue.

when I was a child I enjoy listening to music especially the cartoon music ,though I'm not good at it, I often lose myself in it. When I am in trouble , music can make me calm down. 四、My hobby

A hobby can be almost anything a person likes to do in his spare time. Hobbyists raise pets, build model ships, weave bas-kets, or carve soap figures and so on. In a word, hobbies offer

en-joyment, friendship, knowledge and relaxation.

Then, what is my hobby? Well, what I like most is singing. I began to sing songs when I was very young. My uncle was studying in a college then, so he could sing lots of songs, and he taught me several songs. I showed great interests in the music then, for they were pleasing to ears and easy to sing. My uncle told me they were called pop songs.

When I grew up, my music teacher found that I had a good voice, so she sent me to the Children's Palace to study vocal mu-sic. From then on, I began my vocal music training. And then I knew there were several kinds of songs, like folk songs, pop songs and so on. What I had learned most was the songs for children. They were all simple ones but our teacher trained us very strictly. We practiced how to produce sound and how to make our expres-sion more natural and more pleasing. Those simple training didn't reduce my interest in singing at all and I won awards one after another in several kinds of competition. Actually I began to make up a dream of becoming a famous singer in the future.

As time went by, I came to realize that my dream wouldn't come true for there were strict conditions of being a singer. But I still took singing as my hobby since I found in music the interests which were lost in the exams. When I put all my emotion into singing a song, it gave me very good and very pleasant feelings, and a good chance to relax. Besides, it was a good way to learn things that couldn't be easily found in life.

Now as I'm saying goodbye to my childhood my voice has changed into a deep male voice, and therefore I can sing a lot of songs written for adults. I am often deeply moved, by the melody or by what the song writers said. I can feel that these words come from the bottom of their hearts: "All my best memories come back clearly to me. Some can even make me cry, just like before. It's

yesterday once more. ""Heal the world, make it a place, for you and for me and the entire human race". When I sing these songs, tears well up in my eyes.

I love singing, and the most warm and fragrant thing in life, I assume, is sitting in the sunshine, listening-to the walkman and singing together with the singer.

So, this is my hobby, and I hope every one of us can enjoy his own hobby, en joy the simple, good things of life.

五、My hobby

I enjoy reading books very much, because there are lots of interesting things in them.

Two years ago, I didn't like reading very much. I had plenty of time, but I spent lots of time on playing with computers. When I was very young, I didn't think reading book was interesting, because I found nothing more interesting than the computer games.

I've changed now. I enjoy reading novels, because there're lots of interesting stories. I love to read Harry Potter. That's a good novel. I know that it is one of the best-sellers in England. I'm always lose myself in the interesting stories.
