We were going to play against a team from a country school.
They didn’t come until the last minute. They looked worse than we had thought. T hey were wearing dirty blue trousers and looked like farm boys.
We sat down for a rest. We felt that we didn’t need any practice against a team like that.
The game began. One of us got the ball and he shot a long pass to our forward(前锋). From out of nowhere a boy in an old T-shirt stopped the ball and with beautiful style(姿势) he shot and got two points. Then another two points in a minute. Soon the game was all over. We were beaten by the country team.
After that, we thought a lot. We certainly learned tha t even though your team is very good, you can’t look down upon the others and still need to do your best. And the most important lesson we learned was: One can’t judge (判断) a person or a team only by their clothes.

“Cool” is a word with many meanings. Its o ld meaning is used to express a temperature that is a little bit cold. As the world has changed, the word has had many different meanings. “Cool” can be used to express feelings of interest in almost anything.
When you see a famous car in the street, maybe you will say, “It’s cool.” You may think, “He’s so cool,” when you see your favourite footballer. We all maximize (扩大) the meaning of “cool”. You can use it instead of many words such as “new” or “surprising”. Here’s an interesting story we can use to show the way the word is used. A teacher asked her students to write about the waterfall (瀑布) they had visited. On one student’s paper was just the one sentence, “It’s so cool.” Maybe he thought it was the best way to show what he saw and felt.
But the story also shows a scarcity(缺乏) of words. Without “cool”, some people have no words to show

高三英语期末考试试卷分析 一、试卷特点 本次考试命题的范围、题型以及分值分布和高考试卷相同，也基本体现了高考的命题思路：突出语篇、强调应用、注重交际。试题除完形填空难度较高外，其它题目难度适中，市平均为94，与高考全国卷难度基本相当，试卷上没有出现偏题和怪题，难、中、易题比例适当，有较好的区分度，能真实地反映出学生的语言运用能力，所以这份试卷具有较高的信度和效度。试卷的一些话题，如对话填空，书面表达等，均与牛津高中英语新教材的相关话题相结合。 二、主要失分点及原因分析 （一）各大项得分情况汇总 （本表主要根据省溧中部分学生试卷抽样样本为依据） 从本次考试来看，完形填空和对话填空的失分率较高，说明学生的基础知识还不够扎实，我们在平时的教学中应更注重知识积累。
（二）各项试题失分情况及分析 第一部分：听力 听力题以考查学生简单处理信息的能力为主，另外还考查了学生的归纳综合能力、口语理解能力、以及综合素质能力，其分布如下：
1、5、18等题较为灵活，设置的陷阱很隐蔽，对学生的迷惑性较大，故得分率较低。总体而言，试题难度不大，但得分仅为20.9，我们在以后的教学中要加强听力训练和指导，培养预测能力，通过句子重音来捕捉关键信息能力，以及重视语感的训练和语言的积累。 第二部分：单项选择 考查项目以动词和各种从句为主，其它项目的考查分布均匀，与高考类型基本相符合。 考查目标题号题量 考查能力
