VII. My teaching retrospection
About the whole teaching procedure
My teaching is composed of four parts. That is lead-in, presentation and practice, consolidation, summary and homework. In lead-in part, I want to make the students learn happily, enjoying a song about the transportation tool is provided. After that, singing the song aims at arousing students' learning motivation. In order to let students come back to learning from singing the song.
A game is followed, that is “Who is the quickest reactor”. This game can not only activate their learning enthusiasm but also review how to read the number correctly. That is one of the teaching aims in last class. About presentation and practice part. In this class, the knowledge teaching object is to let the students master three target language (how do you get to school? How long does it take? How far is it from school to your home?). At the very beginning, words and phrases concerned with each of the three target language are presented, what's more, vivid pictures are also shown to make the students connect the knowledge with their real life. In the third part, to consolidate the knowledge, two activities and a reading passage are set. The last part includes a brief summary about this class and homework. About the game, I believe if I make it as a form of competition, the result may be much better.
Shortage about teaching
In general, the whole class didn't activated fully. The atmosphere was a little depressing. From my original purpose, from basic words and phrases to sentences, students can master the target language step by step. However, the tasks that I set seem a little easy, which can not challenge students’ learning desire, that is also the reason which lead the whole teaching process ordinary. So the difficulty of tasks should be closely relate to the students' former knowledge foundation, tasks should be a little more difficult.
Moreover, I should put the student-centered teaching concept into practice. For in some degree, language learning is a process of self-improvement and constant practice. So next time, I should provide the students more opportunity to speak and excavate their language learning potential.
