John Roger Stephens, born on December 28th, 1978, better known by his stage name John Legend, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has won nine Grammy Awards, (17) one Golden Globe, and one Academy Award. In 2007, Legend received the special Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

He is one of the four children in his family. At the age of four, he performed in the church. He began playing the piano at age seven.
