This quotation from Winston Churchill tells us that we shouldn't get discouraged right after failures. Rather, we should keep trying with enthusiasm. Success consists in the ability to continue efforts through failures.

At the age of twelve, I got a nice bike as a birthday gift. So excited was I that I couldn't wait to try my hand at riding it. However, it was harder than expected. The bike seemed too heavy and difficult to control. Worse still, I took many falls off the bike. I was about to give up when my father came and encouraged me to keep going. With more practice, I did better and better. Looking back, I feel I wouldn't be able to ride a bike had I lost heart.

Actually, we can't succeed in everything we try. What's important is that we should stick at it. （二）

Knowing that our library is going to buy books, I’d like to give some suggestions.

What we need most are popular science books. Usually popular science books explain basic principles of nature in a simple and interesting way. They help us understand science subjects better and arouse our curiosity about scientific discoveries.

As the proverb goes, “Where there is a will, there is a way”. When an opportunity comes, it brings a promise but never realizes it on its own. ①It is only when you have a strong ambition and set out to achieve it that your dream will come true.

Three years ago, I had difficulty conquering oral English due to my poor vocabulary. ②Shy as I was, I still made up my mind to attend an English speaking contest. How trembling I was when stepping onto the stage where a spotlight was waiting for me. Inside my mind, a voice told me, “Where there is a will, there is a way”. ③Gathering up all my courage, I calmed myself down and had an excellent performance, speaking very fluent English. A sense of achievement rose and I became wild with joy when I realized I had won the first prize. I did it! I had mastered the impossible.

In time of difficulties and challenges, you ought to have a will. ④Once you hold on to the belief that everything is achievable, it becomes easy to do what needs to be done.

First, talk to someone you trust about how you feel. This is a good way of letting your anger out without hurting others or yourself. Second, go outdoors and play games with your friends as physical exercise is an effective way to get rid of anger. And third, remain optimistic about your future. ③With the positive attitude towards life, you’ll find it helpful to lift your spirits.

…I have heard that you are to come to our school as exchange students, and I, on behalf of our class, welcome you warmly and sincerely. Now, I’d like to introduce some details about the weather, food, and our class.

The weather in fall is very pleasant. It is neither too hot nor too cold, and neither too dry nor too humid. The temperature here is at about 20 centigrade. Moreover, the food in Tianjin is delicious, including the Eight Great Bowls and The Four Great Stews, and some snacks such as Goubuli, a kind of steamed bun with filling. I am sure you will enjoy them.

Our class is a very warm family. There are 60 students in our class, containing 35 boys and 25 girls. You will find it easy to join us since we all want to make friends with you.
