Miyazaki, 76, is considered to be one of the world’s greatest living animators（动画师）. His hand-drawn works are so famous that they’re called Japan’s answer to Disney movies. Last month, it was heard that he would turn his short film Boro the Caterpillar into a full-length film. It’s expected to be on in 2019, just before Tokyo hosts the 2020 Olympic games. “Miyazaki is a person who will keep making films until he dies”, Toshi o Suzuki, an experienced producer told Variety magazine.
In many ways, Miyazaki’s works are different from popular Disney cartoons, where “there are clear distinctions（区分）between what men and women characters can achieve and how they should look”, wrote The Atlantic. But Miyazaki’s characters, including Princess Nausicaa off the Valley of the Wind（1984）and the delivery girl Kiki in Kiki’s Delivery Service（1989）, are models who show us that women can be anything they want to be. He makes this characters seem real. Miyazaki has said that we need to look again at what was once considered usual in the 21st century.
And although Miyazaki makes many wonderful unreal worlds in his movies, he often pays attention to some social problems like the danger that the Earth may meet, especially pollution.
