Sixteen-year-old Maria was waiting
in line at the airport in Santo Domingo.
She was leaving her native country to
join her sister in the United States.

airline employee asking her to pick up

There are three kinds of goals:
shirt-term, medium-range and long
long-term goals.

Britain and France are separated by
the English Channel, a body of water
that can be crossed in as few as 20
minutes. But the cultures of the two
countries sometimes seem to be miles
apart.
