1. Crossing the River to School

cross是动词，“穿越，越过”，主要指“横穿”。

还可以作名词，意为“十字形，叉形符号”。

across既可以作介词，也可以作副词。

crossing 是名词，“渡口，交叉点”。

3. There is a very big river between their school and the village. between ...and... “在....和...之间”，连接两个并列的成分。between/among

(1) between 用于两者之间。

must多表示主观需要或责任感的驱使有必要或有义务去做某事，多译为“必须”，

have to多表示客观存在的环境所限,即客观要求(无奈)而为之，多译为“不得不干某事”。
