Write My Own Life

Having studied the course British and American literature, I knew many great foreign writers, from William Shakespeare to Charles Dickens , from Walter Whitman to Ernest Hemingway. They are all shining stars, who have wrote masterpieces to express themselves and their opinions, of the literature history. Mr. Hu always said that his purpose is to inspire our interests in literature, but I think I have gained more. I wondered that I do need to write something about my feeling. Yes , I should. I am twenty years now, and it’s time for me to think deeper about my life , my dream, and my future.

Suppose that a person he himself is a pen, and his whole life is the paper, What would that someone write about his life ? Would he write about Love ? Or hate? Fun? Or misery? Dream? Or desperate? Life? Or death? Everything?Or nothing?…Would he write just a few tentative words? Or to create a masterpiece that would last forever and make a difference to others ? How to write your own life means how to live you lifetime. Thanks to those poems and books , they give me a lot of inspirations and I realized what kind of life I want and how to write my own “ masterpiece”.

Chapter1 :About Life

“To be, or not to be: that is the question

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,

Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,

And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;

……”

The question of death disturbs Hamlet, as he repeatedly cont emplates whether or not suicide is a proper action in an painfu l world. Hamlet’s grief and misery is such that he frequently te nd to death to end his suffering, but he fears that if he commit s suicide, he will be consigned to eternal suffering in hell . The n at last Hamlet concludes that no one would like to endure th e pain of life if he or she were not afraid of what will come af ter death. I remember a famous writer once said that : Life i s like an onion, you peel it off one layer at a time, and someti mes you weep. Yes, there is enough good and bad in ever yone’s life –-sorrow and happiness, joy and pain—and yo u have the rights to choose laugh or cry. Optimistic is th e necessity of life. The way you look at your life will dete rmine how you feel, how to live your life and how well yo u get along with others. That’s what this poem taught me . Chapter 2: About Study

“Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability. Their chief use for delight is in privateness and retiring; for ornament, is in dis course; and for ability, is in the judgment and disposition of busine ss. For expert men can execute, and perhaps judge of particulars, o ne by one;

…...”

As an old Chinese saying: knowledge is infinite. Francis Ba con also said :knowledge is power. He told us that there are ef ficient ways to study and we should thinking at the same time. As Plato said: Thinking is the talking of the soul with itself. Most of us are going to be teachers in the future. Teachin g is a job at which one will never be perfect, there is alw ays something more to learn about it. That’s one of the p ersonal qualities which are desirable in a teacher. This es say taught me how to learn and how to be a good stude nt by learning, how to be a good teacher in the future by learning , and how to be a good learner forever.

Chapter:3 About Love

“If ever two were one,then surely we. If ever man were loved by wif e,then thee. If ever wife was happy in a man,compare with me,ye w omen if you can. Thy love is such...I can no way repay. The heaven s reward the manifold... I pray. Then while we live,in love let’s so p ersevere. That when we live no more,we may live ever.”

This is Anne Bradstreet’s To My Dear and Loving Husband. The author express her great love for her husband. She wished their love will be honored even after their death. Usually in the earlier writers, majority of poems ,describing the love, were wrote by men. So this poem became extraordinary occasion time that a woman proving the love to her husband. She challenges any woman who

may claim they too have the same kind of love. Love is a classical topic in poetry. As a girl, I also long for romantic pure love. Pure love is a magic that would eliminate mundane barriers like race, religion, class , education, age and so on . Sometimes, love is just a state of permanent infatuation which poverty, difficulties, and gaps cannot change or shake. I believe that my love is somewhere and always waiting for me. I believe I will own great love some day and get married with my Mr. Right and do as what Anne Bradstreet has wrote .

Chapter:4 About …..

……..

Chapter:5 …..

There will have countless chapters of life in the future . “The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest men of past centuries.”After learning all this poems and essays, I had a deeper understanding of this saying. Reading good books can light you life, can inspire your mind, can rich your knowledge, can perfect your personality. I gained a lot from the poems above and other works I have learned this semester. They lead me the road of life . To read more books in the future and to write my own life , I believe the colorful days are waiting for me !

Mend the fence when the weather’s better.
