（1）As the saying goes, “A father is a treasure, a brother is a comfort, but a friend is both.” I am so fortunate to have found my good friend, and I still remember how I built up my friendship with Zhang.

We became friends soon after we entered the senior high school. We played together, went to KTV and shared our meals sometimes --- just the way as other friends do. We kept our ordinary friendship for quite a long time until that day when I broke my leg while playing basketball. (2) When I was in junior high school, Zhang was not a good choice to make friends with because he had dark skin and looked ugly. I didn’t play with him, didn’t talk to him and even walked away when he approached me. However, one afternoon, when I was stopped by several tough guys and threatened to give them money, it was Zhang who stood out, shouted loudly and drove them away. I was very grateful at that time and began to notice him closely.

Of course, we made friends at last. In addition to that brave move, I found out more merits in him under the dark skin and ugly face. Thanks to Zhang’s being my friend, I learned a lesson earlier than others: one can never judge a person from his appearance. Flaw in appearance as a man might have, it doesn’t mean he has mean inner quality. On the contrary, most of the time he will try his best to be even more warm-hearted to balance the loss of the beauty. If we simply ignore these people, we’ll lose a lot of good friends.

Furthermore, not only people but everything follows this golden rule. The appearance is always misleading; we must discover the truth underneath and discard those superficial glamour or plainness.

Once I quarreled bitterly with my mum as she tried hard to give me some suggestions about exams, while I rejected it and behaved rudely. The next day after school, uneasily and slowly I started to make my way towards home. But, quite out of expectation, my mum, my dear mum was there at the gate in the heavy rain, waiting for me! I rushed forward and soon found myself hugging her, moved and apologetic.

From then on, I fully understood the immeasurable love my mum furnished me with. No matter how badly her kid treats her, no matter how many times her kid has ignored her advice, and no matter how childish and stubborn her kid is, she never fails to be lenient and tolerant, guiding and coaching her kid with her selfless love.
