近年来有一种趋势，即有越来越多的中学或大学毕业生走出国门，到外国去求学或深造。此时，国外学校一般要求申请求学的学生提供一份personal statement,内容通常包括求学的原因和目的，完成学业的个人条件和家庭条件等。这次的练习便是这样一份所谓的“个人陈述”。当然这种“个人陈述”的内容，会因不同的申请人，以及所申请的专业或课程的不同而有所不同。本练习中申请人申请的方向是翻译与双语交流，因此，相对而言，内容比较熟悉，用英语表达也会相对简单一些。

Bilingual communication and teaching is the field of learning that I have long been concentrated on. I sincerely hope that I can become a student of the of MA Program of Translation and Bilingual Communication at your university.
Chinese is my mother tongue and Cantonese is my native dialect. I am also very proficient in
English, including in skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. I am able to communicate with others smoothly and confidently.
I love translation very much and have kept doing translation exercises regularly. I have worked as a part time translator for some trade companies and also have learned some basic skills and theoretic knowledge about translation from the undergraduate course of Translation Theory and Practice at college. I am lucky to have been chosen as voluntary interpreter for the 3rd Zhanjiang International Marine Dragon-Boat Invitational Tournament and the 1st Zhanjiang Expo of Marine Economy .
I am applying for your MA program because I believe I can have access to more advanced theories and knowledges concerning translation and other subjects, and I can work on my translation studies in a much better conditions and academic environment.
