Friendship can be pure. We hear , nowdays, however, how one can be cheated by friends. Many people get along with someone because they have a lot of money. It is doultful that is real friendship.

Having friends, one can be find happiness. If you are in trouble your friends will help you through or at least comfort you. When you are happy , they share it with you. They are also there for you to chat with at any time.

It is a wonderful feeling, as the proverb says" to love each other is easy but to make frieds is hard", So, it is crutial that we should get along with our friends. In my opinon ,it is a shame to deceive your friends . The world would be more beautiful if it was full of filled with friendship

It‘s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—Change the World, Change Ourselves.

It‘s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. Not long before about 10 Doctors in Beijing university and Qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.

Frankly speaking, I don‘t quite agree with them.Indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals

as China boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).But why can‘t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.

There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in China. On the one hand, some of the western holidays which we Chinese don‘t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as Father‘s Day and April Fool‘s Day etc. On the o ther hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in China. Overwhelmed by such a trend,Chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture. With the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. We are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.The only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? The answer is definitely no. What we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate Chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. Only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. Only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.

Global Citizenship begins at home. Do you know what is the connotation of the Globa l Citizenship ? To be honest I don‘t understand the exactly meaning of the sentence ,so only can I explain it simply .Global Citizenship ,in my opinion ,is not something in word only ,but a kind of responsibility and undertaking ,a way of behaving and thinking .So Global citizenship begins at home ,with a commitment to live responsibility ,to regard all human begins as fellow citizens ,and to be proactive in seeking the common good. For us university students ,usually we are busy with exams or focusing on the incidents in daily life .We hardly pay

attention to the global issues. However , as university students ,we should take the responsibility to think about them ,think about the life around us.

The world develops quickly, but it wandered from the path it should be. Peace and development have become essential issues. Peace lays a foundation to development. But because of the development, social problems and environmental problems have become serious global problems. Over-population makes us ask for more resources from the limited ones. It causes natural resources fearfully scarce. If we keep on doing so, we will of course lose our reliable living space at last.

Apart from the environment we had broke at home ,we Chinese also have no sense to protect it when traveling abroad. Therefore Chinese travelers‘ behaviors in foreign countries have made the native intolerable .And the foreigners have the bad influence about our country.

So I think the sentence of Global Citizenship begins at home means that everyone should be the global citizen ,should take the responsibility to protect our mother land .Global citizenship begins at home ,let we do it through the children and the parents ,through the school and the society, thou the government .There‘s an old sa ying : Action speaks louder than words. Let‘s act now . Thank you all attention.

As everyone knows, English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. If we can speak English well, we will have more chance to succeed. Because more and more people have taken notice of it, the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a high speed.

But for myself, I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it. When I learn English, I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels, I can feel the pleasure from the book which is different from reading the translation. When I speak English, I can feel the confident from my words. When I write English, I can see the beauty which is not the same as our Chinese...

I love English, it gives me a colorful dream. I hope I can

These are words of the song Bye-Bye. Every time when I hear it, I‘ll always lose myself in grief recalling the tough time we came through in 2008.

The snow storm, the Tibet issue, the obstruction to the Olympic torch relay，the earthquake……Time dates back to the day the horrible earth quake occurred in Sichuan, tens of thousands of people lost life and families. I’ll never forget those days I sat front of the TV, moved by people never gave up under ruins even there‘s little hope to survive. I‘ll never forget those days most newspapers and websites were all in black and white. I‘ll never forget those days I had my black coat on, writing down my best wishes to the suffering people.

At the same time, I also remember those days my friends abroad told me that they joined in the protest against western world‘s bias on China and the fight against the Tibetan separatists.

I can still remember the day when I went to see the torch relay at Hangzhou with heart shaped stickers on cheek. I wore the T-shirt with words Light the Passion, Light the Dream . When the torch passed by, we cheered Go China, Go Beijing, sang the national anthem again and again, waving flags, dancing, hugging, clapping.

It was the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games which shocked the whole world and told the entire human Yes, we can.

For our students, marks is above everything. Teachers will judge us from our marks. With marks we can be enrolled into junior middle schools. With marks, we can be enrolled into

senior middle schools. With marks we can be enrolled into college. With marks we can be enrolled into postgraduate and doctrine studies. Still with marks we can be graded and be allowed to go abroad for further studies. Our parents will be strict with us with the marks. Our society judge us from marks. However, sometimes we students compare one another with marks directly. We are completely controlled by marks. We like them and we feel sorry for them. But what attitude towards our marks should we take?

Truly, marks functions cannot be underestimated. In terms of test in our study, marks are fair and real. That is the reason why we say "Everyone is equal before marks. "

However, I think marks are the sole standard to judge the success or failure of students in exams. Sometimes, marks more than ten or less than one or two in our exams comparing with others mean not everything. The success or failure in exams will be influenced by experience on the spot and the examinee's health etc. Once in a while one cannot fail in exams. " Success or failure is common sense for military. " I think everyone is familiar with the famous saying. Don't you think such will be the case with our study? In exams, one cannot be " never-defeated general" . Even though one will be very good in everyday study, he cannot succeed in every exam sometimes. We can get proof from the fact that the very best one we call "Number One Scholar" in the entrance exams for college and ordinary middle school and specialized secondary school over the years is not eminent above all others nor top student in every study.

As a matter of fact, "high marks" and "ability" are not unified. Some time ago, a new phrase " high marks but poor competence" came into being. Once I happened to meet such a teacher as this .It is said that the teacher just graduated from a

far-famed key university. But his teaching result is much less than that of the one who just graduated from a

not-well-renowned college. When lecturing, the teacher only repeated what the text-books says, which was very dull so the his students' interest in learning was not aroused. His teaching was short of unity of teaching and learning. At present there is a fact that we know a few brilliant and top college graduates are not qualified for their posts. The reason for it may be lack of the ability to combine knowledge learnt from books with pragmatics in their work. Students of this kind will be successful in every exam but they will be able to use freely their knowledge in their posts. Don't you think it waste training such persons for the country?

To sum up from the above, I can say marks are not absolutely authoritative for some. If we neglect training and developing the students' ability and competence and if we only seek for the high marks, we will be absolutely wrong. We should take an objective attitude towards the marks. Neither should we neglect them nor should we overvalue them like a God.

Every one has his own dream.When I was a little kid ,my dream was even to have a candy shop of my own .But now ,when

I am 16 years old ,standing here ,my dreams have already changed

a lot.

I have got quite different experience from other girls.While they were playing toys at home,while they were dreaming to be the princesses in the story .I was running in the hard rain,jumping in the heavy snow,pitching in the strong wind.Nothing could stop me ,because of a wonderful call from my heart -- to be an athlete.Yeah ,of course ,I'm an athlete,I'm so proud of that all the time .

When I was 10 years old ,I became a shot-put athlete.The training was really hard ,I couldn't bear the heavy shot in my hands .But I always believe that "god only help those who help themselves".During those hard days,I find I was growing more quickly than others of the same age.To be an athlete is my most correct choice.But,I quit my team after entering high school because of a silly excuse.I really didn't want to stop my sports career anyway.

Today I say to you my friends that even though I

First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,‖Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.‖

Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 2008 Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.

Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I‘m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?

I‘ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ‖Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?‖

The second place we are going to is the Great Wall. This is the only building, I hear, that can been seen from the moon, and it represents the diligence and the wisdom of whole Chinese nation.

Now, it‘s time for lunch. We plan to have… What? You

say ‖Beijing Duck‖? Yeah, right you are! We‘ll come back to the center of Beijing, and we‘ll have dinner at ―Quanjude‖ restaurant. To me March 28th was a lucky day. It was on that particular evening that I found myself at central stage, in the spotlight. Winning the "21st Century·Ericsson Cup" Seventh National English Speaking Competition is a memory that I shall treasure and one that will surely stay.

More important than winning the Cup is the friendship that has been established and developed among the contestants, and the chance to communicate offstage in addition to competing onstage. Also the competition helps boost public speaking in China, a skill hitherto undervalued.

For me, though, the competition is a more personal experience. Habitually shy, I had been reluctant to take part in any such activities. Encouraged by my friends, however, I made a last-minute decision to give it a try. In the course of preparation I somehow rediscovered myself, a truer me.

I found that, after all, I like communicating with other people; that exchanging views can be so much fun—and so much rewarding, both emotionally and intellectually; that public speaking is most effective when you are least guarded; and that it is essential to success in every walk of life.

At a more practical level, I realized knowing what you are going to say and how you are going to say it are equally important. To take the original ideas out of your head and transplant them, so to speak, to that of others, you need to have an organized mind. This ability improves with training.

Yet there should not be any loss or addition or distortion in the process. Those ideas that finally find their waysintosanother head need to be recognizably yours. Language is a means to transmit information, not a means to obstruct communication. It should be lucid to be penetrating.

In China, certain public speaking skills have been unduly emphasized. Will it really help, we are compelled to ask, to bang at the podium or yell at the top of your lungs, if you have come with a poorly organized speech, a muddled mind, and unwillingness to truly share your views?

Above all, the single most important thing I learnt was that as a public speaker, you need to pay attention, first and foremost, to the content of your speech. And second, the structure of your speech: how one idea relates and progresses to another.

Only after these come delivery and non-verbal communication: speed control, platform manner, and so on. Pronunciation is important, yet of greater importance is this: Is your language competent enough to express your ideas exactly the way you intend them to be understood?

I was informed afterwards that I was chosen to be the winner for my "appropriately worded speech, excellent presence and quick-witted response". In so remarking, the judges clearly showed their preference: they come to listen for meaningful ideas, not for loose judgments, nor easy laughters.

Some contestants failed to address their questions head on. Some were able to, but did not knows wheresto stop—the dragging on betrayed their lack of confidence. The root cause was that they did not listen attentively to the questions. Or they were thinking of what they had prepared.

As I said in my speech, "It is vitally important that we young people do more serious thinking ... to take them [issues like globalization] on and give them honest thinking is the first step to be prepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way". We need to respond honestly.

A competition like this draws talented students from all over the country. And of course, I learnt more things than just about public speaking. Since in the final analysis, public speaking is all about effective communication. And this goes true for all communications, whatever their setting

I think my Dad was a hero for me when I was a young child. We'd go fishing, walks, and other fun things for a kid.

Every child has a good and great father, and so do I. My dad played a very important role in my daily life`````exactly speaking, in my past 16 years.

My father always stands in the center of my life， from past till now and possibly in the future.

My family was rather poor when I was in my childhood. We didn't have our own house and had to live in a shabby， small room rented from my father's factory. The room was so small that there was little space for people to walk. I didn't have my own bed and had to sleep with my parents. This is terrible both for my parents and me.

But father made this all different!he works very hard on his own business, now we have our own 2 housese,surly,I have my own room.and he take our family so much happiness, richer and richer.

When I was little, I did everything with my dad. You could always find me sitting on his knee or walking and doing everything with him. Every night he would read me a bed time story and make the voices of each character.

I learnt a lot from my daddy. I learnt to never take things to seriously and to always smile.

Like many other fathers, my dad and I also has generation gap. He is not good at or even can‘t work the computer. So when I sitting at the computer desk,he will say something like ?you should pay more attention to your study‘, ?don‘t waste time on the computer games‘ , ?it will be bad for your eyes‘ and so on. How can I- a computer fan –reduce time on computer? So I continue studying and playing on it

我想我的爸爸是英雄，我当我还是一个年轻的孩子。我们希望在这里钓鱼，散步，和其他有趣的事情的一个孩子。

每个孩子都有一个良好的和伟大的父亲，所以我爸爸一发挥了十分重要的作用在我的日常生活`````确切地讲，我在过去16年。

我父亲总是对我站的中心，我的生活，从过去到现在，并可能在将来。

我的家庭是穷人，而当我在我的童年。我们没有我们自己的房子，并生活在一个简陋的小房间租给从我父亲的工厂。房间如此之小，几乎没有空间，人走。我没有我自己的床上睡觉了我的父母。这是可怕的都是我的父母和我。

但是，父亲这一切不同的!他的作品很难对自己的业务，现在我们有自己的2 housese ，阴沉的，我有自己的房间.和他把我们的家庭如此大的快乐，丰富。

小时候，我做的一切都是我的爸爸。你总是可以找到我坐在他的膝盖，或步行，并尽一切与他。每天晚上，他将宣读我的床上时间的故事，使声音的每个字符。

我学到了很多我的爸爸。我学到的东西来从未采取严肃，始终微笑。

! Opportunities and Challenges

First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,‖Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.‖

Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 2008 Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.

Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I‘m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?

I‘ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ‖Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?‖

For us, I mean the Chinese youth, 2008 Olympic Games is a tremendous gift. Because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .The society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ‖Hey! Come here and take the helm! ‖How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to be a ―comforter‖ ----that is someone who will give comfort to others.

At the end of my speech, I hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. Let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges

YES,WE CAN

This is for my people who just lost somebody, your best friend, your baby, your man or your lady. Lift your head to the sky, we will never say bye.

These are words of the song Bye-Bye. Every time when I hear it, I‘ll always lose myself in grief recalling the tough time we came through in 2008.

The snow storm, the Tibet issue, the obstruction to the Olympic torch relay，the earthquake……Time dates back to the day the horrible earth quake occurred in Sichuan, tens of thousands of people lost life and families. I‘ll never forget those days I sat front of the TV, moved by people never gave up under ruins even there‘s little hope to survive. I‘ll never forget those days most newspapers and websites were all in black and white. I‘ll never forget those days I had my black coat on, writing down my best wishes to the suffering people.

At the same time, I also remember those days my friends abroad told me that they joined in the protest against western world‘s bias on China and the fight against the Tibetan separatists.

I can still remember the day when I went to see the torch relay at Hangzhou with heart shaped stickers on cheek. I wore the T-shirt with words Light the Passion, Light the Dream . When the torch passed by, we cheered Go China, Go Beijing, sang the national anthem again and again, waving flags, dancing, hugging, clapping.

It was the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games which

shocked the whole world and told the entire human Yes, we can. Yes, we can, because we are united and brave
