宾语从句

一、概念

宾语从句是指在复合句中充当宾语的句子。

e.g. We know that Mr. Green teaches English.

I am glad that you can come for dinner.

二、用法。

1. 连接词

1) 由that引导的宾语从句

that 在句中无意义,在从句中不充当成分,在口语当中往往省略。宾语从句可用于主句动词之后,如know, think, believe, hope, mean, notice, say, find, see, hear; 也可用于主句形容词之后,如be certain, be sure, be glad.

e.g. 我听说你通过了考试。I hear (that) you ______ ______the exam.

2) 由whether/if 引导的宾语从句

if/ whether 意思是“是否”,在从句中不充当成分,常用在ask, wonder, find out, can(could) you tell me 等后。

e.g. 我问他是否喜欢读书。I ask him ______ he _______reading.

★下列情况只用whether不用if

当与or not连用时I don’t know _______or not he’s free.

在介词后面I’m thinking about _______ we should go fishing.

在动词不定式前They asked me ________ to go skating.

2. 语序

宾语从句的语序是陈述语序,即“连接词+主语+谓语+其他成分。

e.g. Mr Wu问我Mary昨天是否打扫了教室。

3. 时态

(1) 主句为一般现在时,从句的时态不受主句影响。

e.g. Tom想知道他的爷爷下周是否回来。

(2) 主句为一般过去时,从句用与过去相关的时态。

e.g. Kate said there ________ a box under the desk. (be)

★注意:从句说明的是一般真理、客观事实、自然现象、名言时,仍用一般现在时。

4. 人称

宾语从句中的人称代词要符合逻辑,有时需进行合理变化。

e.g. She wonders, “Can I keep that book for one more week?”

→She wonders if/whether _______ can keep that book for one more week.
