Challenge or Not

Recently, the Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral all over the world, particularly in the United States, with people posting videos of themselves online and on TV participating in the event. Despite the increase of the donation to fight ALS and more public concern, some are worrie d about the problems found with this kind of activities. What I have seen is that they have been ins erted a sense of entertainment. Personally, I propose that charitable activities, if inserted with too much entertaining elements, will probably depart from their original intentions.

This charitable blockbuster, luring hundreds of celebrities, politicians and athletes, has spar ked millions of donations to ALS research and raised awareness of the disease. However, there are worries and different voices towards it. Environmentalists are concerned about the waste of water on the national level, while doctors warn people of the risks of being poured by icy water from the perspective of health.

On the one hand, we have observed that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has rubbed some p eople the wrong way, especially as participants get caught up in the act of making videos rather th an focusing on the essence of the charity itself. It is said that when Barack Hussein Obama took th e challenge, the current American president chose to make a donation of 100 dollars rather than po uring the icy water over his head. On the other hand, the original purpose of this activity is to prov ide aid and support for patients suffering from the disease. Accordingly, what we should focus on i s whether the ALS association begins immediate funding for families in desperate need of home h ealth care services and other care-related services.

As a matter of fact, after a month in the spotlight, the much-hyped ALS Ice Bucket Challen ge is finally starting to show signs of cooling down. Most things in moderation are healthy and last ing, and charitable activities are no different. We should always bear the core of charity in mind: b eing a dutiful citizen.

My Views on the Sharing Economy

The sharing economy has been a new trend in economic activities. Many people benefit a lot through it while different people hold different opinions toward the new topic. On my personal note, with the development of the modern society and economy, the sharing economy plays an important part nowadays. My reasons are as follows.

First of all,it helps people make good use of resources. As we all know, the owners can share their available bargains with people who need for free or rent their unused things to one another. It can make sure that many things can be used for as many times as possible instead of being abandoned in the corner.

Secondly,as the old saying goes:"The rose's in her hand, the flavor in mine."The sharing economy is just like the rose,it is the bridge between owners and recipients and offers a brand new way to help others and the owners will receive happiness at the same time. When one release the note that he need a place to stay for some time, the one who can offer him will contact him and they both can get what they want.

Last but not least, people can make more friends through this.By chatting or negotiating online, two strangers can become familiar with each other and make meaningful connections. For example,if you plan to travel and you find the man who are willing to offer you a place to stay, you will share your journey with him or her, then you may find you two have similar outlooks on life or other similarities. You may even keep in touch with each other for a long time after the bargain.

In summary,as the Times magazine comments, the sharing economy is becoming one of 10 ideas that change the world. It brings much convenience in our daily life. From my point of view,we can take an active part in the sharing economy and take full advantage of it.

My Views on the Sharing Economy

The sharing economy refers to the economic pattern in which people share access to resource s, such as goods, services and data. This newly emerging trend would be impossible without the de velopment of technology. It is the Internet that makes the sharing cheaper and easier and helps to s trike a balance between supply and demand. Time magazine has listed the sharing economy as one of the “ 10ideas that will change the world ”A.s far as the comment is concerned, I cannot agree w ith Time more.

As one of the greatest benefits of the digital age, the sharing economy arises from our oldest in stinct as human beings. There is always an urge for us to connect with others, especially in an era when families are scattered and we do not really know the people who live nearby. It has been said that

“ Joy s hared with others are more enjoyed. H”owever, in my eyes, the resources shared with others are more beneficial to our society.

On the one hand, sharing economy leads to a more efficient use of resources. Some items are expensive to buy but widely owned by people who do not make the best use of them. Occasional s haring may provide extra income for the owners and can be less costly for the borrowers. If manag ed well, a win-win situation is achieved for both parties in the process. Besides, sharing economy contributes to environmental protection. Take accommodation for example. The more hotels are b uilt, the more resources are required, which might in turn result in a decrease in arable land and pu blic green space. On the other hand, the transaction cost is reduced due to the use of Internet and v arious apps. With a smart phone in your hand, it is not difficult to find a potential host in the neigh boring area. People are meeting increasingly on screens, discussing online and purchasing goods d omestic and overseas, paying through Internet payment system.

To summarize, although the sharing economy is not perfect at present because of concerns in

in sura nee, legal liability, safety and the like, I believe, quite firmly, that it represe nts the future tren d and has the power to change the world for the convenience and flexibility it brings to us. Just as the old Chin ese say ing goes, the defects cannot obscure the virtues of a sple ndid jade, and I assum e it also

applies to the shari ng economy.

My Views on Worki ng from Home

Nowadays, more and more compa nies have work-from-home or remote work ing polices, which means that their employees do not have to commute to work every day. As a result, some people think that this can save employees' time, in which employees are allowed to arrange their life freely, thus raising their productivity. However, others argue that only in the work places can employees com muni cate face to face, which vastly in crease the efficie ncy of coord in ati on and cooperati on. So whether employees should work on their home or work on the compa ni es, which caused a heated disscussion in society. However, in my opinion, it is better for employees work on their compa nies tha n in their homes.

We can't deny the fact that employees can't concen trate much of their atte nti on on the works if they work in home. Because there are so many tempts arounding them, for example, their computers, televisions, recreational facilities, and so on. Once they are working in the homes, it is likely that the company's disciplines will be ignored. However, working in the company, the employees will put all their en egetic into their works. Because compared with their home, compa ny is a formal occasi on, to which employees dare not despised.

As long as we can see, work ing in home, the employees are n early isolated from the society, which is not beneficial to their works. A person, who cut off the link with the outworld, will be fall beh ind, and being aba ndoned by the world. However, work ing in compa ny, the employees will get another result, whih will be satisfactorily. As the old saying goes, " The crowd pick up firewood making high fire. " It is no doubt that working in the company, the employees can com muni cate face to face , in which they can get better solidarity and collaborati on and get twice the result with half the effort.

Above what we have discussed, it is easy for uc come into a con clusi on that work ing in company can gain more benifits than working in home. As a result, we should not promote employees work from home. as a employee, they should work in compa ny con sciously.

Is a sound social en vir onment n ecessary for people to be good to others?

For thousa nds of years in China, help ing others has bee n a virtue in traditi onal Chin ese culture. But no wadays, the virtue seems no Ion ger exist, for many people dare not offer help to those in n eed, for fear of getti ng into trouble. This issue has bee n a hot topic in the n ews, and the public is in a high fever to discuss this moral problem. Some people think that help ing others is a virtue in China, we should proud of it and carry forward this culture, or it will lead to a moray dege nerati on. While the rest of them think help ing others many get lots of unn ecessary troubles which is wasting their time and money, in some situation, they may go into jail. In my point of view, people should be good to others.

There is no doubt that some tragic event was a trap by some bad people for blackmail money. The most com mon case is that an old lady or man was lyi ng on the gro und and claimi ng some one was knocked them down, then their children will ask the warm- hearted “ evil man ” for a pretty penny. I heard a case that a young man helps an old lady who was hit by a car, but the old lady in sisted that the young man was the one who hit her. The innocent man has not proved that he is not the crim inal so he lost the lawsuit, he has no choice but accept the verdict. Then the poor guy commits a suicide because he has no money for compe nsati on. This famous case has aroused public debate over the climate of morality and credibility, and many people sigh over the moral dege nerati on. This case like an alarm to that kind,

warm-hearted and helpful people, they wan ted to give a hand but fare of gett ing into trouble.

As the say ing goes: one good turn deserves ano ther. Help ing other is a positive en ergy which deserved to be carrying forward. Since every one of us is a component of the society, it is each in dividual ' s con ducts that form social morality. I believe positive emoti ons can be in fected, once people see the others are offering help, they might get a big chance of willing to help others. Just put yourself in other ' s positi on, if it is youheho whd would you feel if every one

watches in differe ntly or suspiciously, some even just sta nding and tak ing pictures the n upload? Be good to others, no only one day you might n eed help, but also help ing others will make you feel happy and feel better about life.

In sum, I contend the idea that social en vir onment is n ecessary for people to be good to others, and people should take the resp on sibility to offer help to those in n eed, the n we build up a more harm onious society.

2011年 Should famous Chinese sites of historical interest charge higher fees during peak travel seasons? Nowadays, with the rapid development of tourism industry, it has become popular for quite some people to travel at vacation after a long period of heavy load of working. They come to some historical sites to relax themselves. At the same time, holiday is the busiest travel times of the year. Generally speaking, the famous Chinese sites of historical interest will charge higher fees during the time. Recently, a controversial viewpoint towards historic sites' higher charge that whether such action will hurt citizen's sentiment. My opinion is that it's worth charging higher fees. First of all, I firmly believe that it is necessary to charge higher fees. People could understand the meaning of life and the permanent value from these measures, then they will change their thinking style of study and work. Historical sites let people realize death is not far away and we should not waste our life. Moreover, when parents take their children to the historic interest, the children can learn knowledge of history rather than just playing there. At the same time they receive education. In fact,I think it is meaningful to go to Chinese sites of historical interest than to the playground. Last but not least, historical sites' complete preservation needs a large amount of money. In order to make our historical sites exist forever, we

Some people appreciate the bold innovation of the design, whereas others hold that the design should suit its local conditions and reflect its regional characteristics or cultural heritage. As far as I am concerned, I prefer the latter. Firstly, any urban design should take the city’s original cultural heritage into account. Functional and harmonious architectures are needed to suit the life of the people there. In a mountainous area, unconventional and super-futuristic buildings are incompatible with its landscapes and they usually prove to be unsuited to the climate. Besides, the disappearance of its original features may mean the disappearance of a period of history and even the disappearance of its symbol and identity. Secondly, the form of traditional buildings anywhere in the world is influenced by local climate and geology. Therefore, the design well suited to local conditions can save a lot of money. As a small developing mountainous area near Guiyang, it should try to take good advantage of its local resources. Over the centuries, the local materials have become the raw material used by sophisticated and expert craftsmen. If it falsely understood “progress”, wanted to be “modern” at any price, despised the outstanding features of its traditional culture and attempted to introduce reinforced concrete buildings, it would impose great pressure on its people. In addition, such buildings require expensive maintenance which is a heavy burden for its people. Thirdly, it will take a long period of time before local people can truly be accustomed to and appreciate the unconventional, super-futuristic buildings. Lived in the traditional buildings for generations, local citizens are very likely to feel uncomfortable and uneasy surrounded by such super-futuristic buildings, let alone to appreciate them.

英语考试作文-2018专八作文范文:考研or工作

英语考试作文 2018专八作文范文:考研or工作 2018专八作文范文:考研or工作 Facing the two options, I will choose to take a job in a company. There are mainly two reasons for my choice. On one hand, I am eager to apply what I’ve learned to practice since I have got so many years’ schooling. Moreover, I am somewhat tired of the “ivory tower” life and ready for the “real world” life, for I assume that I can learn more from getting in touch with society. On the other hand, my family needs my financial support, because my parents are getting older and older and making less and less. Though it doesn’t take much to pursue my further study, I cannot support my parents financially if I choose to go to a graduate school. To sum up, to take a job in a company meets my desire of learning from practice and support my parents financially, which is a better choice for me.

2019年英语专业八级考试作文范文:Migrant Workers

2019年英语专业八级考试作文范文:Migrant Workers The Role of Migrant Workers Migrant workers have made a great contribution to the prosperity of cities. They leave their home-land for better chances. Some want to change their destiny, some want to make a fortune. Whatever the purposes they cherished when millions of them streamed into big cities, they have promoted the development of cities. Most of the migrant workers are hard working and unafraid of hardships. They take up the dirtiest, the most strenuous or dangerous jobs which city laborers are unwilling to do. With lots of building they have set up and streets they have kept clean, they have helped modernize and beautify cities. Not only have they become the main work force in the construction sector, they also have helped liberate city women from heavy housework chores by taking care of the babies, cleaning houses or providing any other services citizens need. Although some of the citizens complain about the increasing number of the problems such as theft, robbery a few of migrant workers have committed, most of the citizens agree that their contribution is obvious, and with better management, their role in the construction of cities will definitely be greater.

专八作文范文 02: The Most Important Quality of a University Student Many people regard university as job-training centre which would help us get a better job. However in my view, the four years in university are also supposed to be character building period during which we can develop some important personal qualities that are necessary for success in the present-day society. Among them, passion in learning may be the most important. To begin with, a mobile society has a demand for those who can easily adapt to the latest development. As the world we live in is a fast-charging one, we constantly need to update our knowledge and skills. while many people grit their teeth to cram their minds with new stuff, whose who have developed a genuine passion in learning during their college years may make a virtue of necessity, deriving much pleasure from learning what is required by the latest developments in their fields. Moreover, passion in learning may also help to ward off the feeling of futility and emptiness, a typically modern disease caused by complicated reasons such as huge pressure and fierce competition in modern society. As human beings, we need more than material comforts to assert the value of our life. In China, where the belief in god is largely absent, a life-long pursuit for knowledge may be a god substitute for religion, for those devoted to learning will be better aware of the significance of their life by seeing themselves as those who pass on the torch of knowledge. In this way, learning may serve to head off psychological crises. In conclusion, one’s passion in learning bring benefit to individuals in a variety of ways, hence it is the most important quality of a university student. 03:Love, and Then Be Loved In recent years, more and more teachers complain that their students are indifferent to others. Some even worry that the young generation might ruin the future of China. To be sure, many of our young people

Is a sound social environment necessary for people to be good to others Helping(用动词ing 做主语)others has always been a virtue in traditional Chinese culture, but nowadays many people dare not offer help to those in need, for fear of getting into trouble. The issue has aroused public debate over the climate of morality and credibility, and many people sigh over the moral degeneration(道德退化).In my opinion, while social environment is necessary for people to be good to others, each individual should try his or her best to do good deeds and be sympathetic with others, instead of waiting for the environment to improve. There is no denying that some tragic events turn out to be traps(陷阱)by people with evil intentions, so people are becoming more risk-conscious(具有风险意识的) and are more wary (考虑周到的)of traps and deceits. some people even wonder, ‘Is our society hostile to good people?’(反问极其有力)The question may sound ridiculous but many people apparently think so. They believe that our current society provides a bad environment for good people doing good things, and good people pay a high price fo r being compassionate. In fact, such kind of things only accounts for a pretty small percentage, but massive media coverage makes the situation seem serious. Actually, most people around me are kind, warm-hearted and helpful, and I am quite delighted in their company. So I believe media should pay more attention to publicizing good people and exemplary(典范的;惩戒性的;可仿效的) deeds to enhance our confidence, rather than exposing disgusting behaviors.第二段开始阐述人们的心理状态以及人们为何不愿意做好事,以及外界媒体对于个别案例的夸张描述,导致人们不愿意做好事,最后表达出自己的强烈愿望) At the same time,as John Donne puts it(引用名人名言), “No man is an island, entire of itself. 英语专业八级满分作文范文推荐

英语专业八级满分作文范文推荐 Ambition is the decision one makes and the resolution with which he carries out that decision. It provides us with the required driving force to accomplish any undertakings in our life. Just as Joseph Epstein, a famous American writer put it, “And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed.” Indeed, once we make up our minds to choose to do something, then our life becomes meaningful and specifically orientated. This notion of life, as far as I observe, is closest to truth and does apply to almost all aspects of life. First things first, ambition renders us a sense of mission. No matter what decision you make you have to be responsible for your choice. Your choice procures you a sense of orientation, or more specially a sense of mission. And only a strong mission may enable one to accomplish greatness. Caesar of the ancient Roman Empire was urged by his ambition “I came, I saw, I conquered.” And became an unrivaled empire builder in the history of Rome. John Milton, stimulated always by his ambition that aimed at writing some “mighty lines” which England would unwillingly forget, had in due time secured his position as the second Shakespeare in the history of English literature. In the second place, ambition can bring one’s potentials to the full. Ambition may well serve as a catalyst activating one’s dormant potentials. Without ambition one’s potentials will remain slumbering like a dormant volcano. A case in point is Ms Zhang Haidi, a Chinese Helen Keller. It was her ambition to be a useful person has turned the almost paralyzed Zhang Haidi into a well-accomplished figure whose achievements would dwarf those of some normal people aim at the sun, though, at worst, they may probably land on the moon. Influential as it is upon us, however, ambition must be channeled in the right direction. If wrongly directed, one’s ambition may bring havoc on him and others. Hitler, whose ambition was to conquer Europe by whatever evil means, finally turned him into a demon. It was this demon that almost cast Europe into an unfathomable abyss of anguish and suffering. Another case is Macbeth whose ambition was to become the king of Scotland. However, his ambition was materialized by the murder of King Duncan. Consequently, unbearable guilt and psychological agony drove him to his tragic doom. To sum up, ambition can benefit us tremendously if wisely and correctly channeled, otherwise it may ruin others and ourselves. A poet says: life can be bad; life can be good; life can be dirty; life can be sad,; life can even be painful. In my mind’s eye, a person can make his life beautiful, meaningful and rewarding and stand out as a respectable personage if he is motivated by a well-orientated ambition. 2013 英语专八范文:中国大学收费制度 On University Tuition System in China Tuition system has become one of the hottest topics in China since it was put into effect.
