趣味英语口语选修课

随着海南国际旅游岛建设步伐的加快,海南对于掌握基本英语会话人才的需求越来越大。高一阶段是学习操练英语口语,提高口语技能的最佳时段。此阶段,学生充满活力,对于英语学习热情似火。从作者所在学校开设的两个英语口语教学课堂上学生的参与人数和参与态度上大致可以看出学生学习英语口语的高昂情绪。

本选修课的目的在于激发学生英语学习兴趣,培养学生实际语言技能和运用能力。

一、结合实际,自编教材

第一课时:Introduce yourself

开学的第一节课作者一般都会通过自我介绍引导学生学习向他人介绍自己的个人信息、就读学校、兴趣爱好等句型和对话。这一课活动的安排首先是通过教师通过PPT展示自己的个人信息卡片,卡片可以是名片的形式,也可以是一幅色彩斑斓的画。画上的学士帽代表教师的教育,图书和跑道代表教师的兴趣爱好,小人头代表教师的个人信息。教师可以让学生边看图边猜测教师的兴趣爱好,个人信息。然后,教师手指图片内容进行自我介绍师范,并在黑板上板书出使用到的句型。例如:介绍个人信息的句型有,

1 姓名:My name is____.

You can call me____.

My nickname is____.

2.年龄:I am ___years old.

I am___ this year.

Ah...It's a secret.

教师带领学生朗读这些句型,并教会学生使用。然后,学生动手绘制自己的个人信息图或填写个人信息卡。完成后,学生通过图画和卡片对自己进行自我介绍。其余同学听并提问。提问过后,进入小组活动环节。学生在组内或与其他小组成员交换个人信息图(卡),并询问他人信息,这时,句型主语换成第二或第三人称。最后,请个别同学上台汇报介绍他们认识的新同学信息,并让其余学生猜测是教室里的哪一位同学,教师根据学生的语音语调,口语流畅程度和反应程度进行打分,评出课堂之星。

二、根据进度,选择内容

第二课时:Festivals in China

选取这一课时的内容时,考虑到学生刚放完寒假回来,对在传统的春节期间的经历仍记忆犹新。选取该话题提起了学生的兴趣。

在学习这一话题的前五分钟,通过头脑风暴的方式帮助学生回顾中西方的传统节日名称。然后通过图片导入中国的传统节日:春节、端午节、中秋节。

这三个传统节日都是学生非常熟悉的。教师通过引导学生观看这些传统节日活动的图片,带领学生学习与节日相关的物品名称,例如红包lucky money, 放鞭炮set off firecrackers,赛龙舟dragon boat races 等等。

等学生熟悉单词或词组后,教师在屏幕上向学生展示三组口语对话。语境分别是中国学生甲与外国学生乙在春节、端午节、中秋节时的对话。对话的内容是对传统习俗的解说。练习的过程中巩固邀请句型的学习。

接下来,教师分配任务,将全班分为两个大组,可以是男女生各一组,也可以按照座位左右划分为两大组。学生按照角色熟读对话并想象自己是对话中的主角,有感情地进行对话练习。

根据学生的基础,教师可以适当地示范,或讲解语调的相关知识:升调—一般疑问句,委婉句,称呼

降调—陈述句,特殊疑问句

当学生了解了不同语调代表不同的感情时,就更能读出对话中人物的惊讶,开心等情感。

最后,教师邀请两队志愿者上台展示。个别学生加入了动作,教师要抓住时机点评或表扬,激励学生。

三、联系生活,畅所欲言

第三课时:How to Keep a Balanced Diet

这一课安排在每周一节的选修课上,根据学生的学习进度,正好与学生正在学习的B3 Unit2 Healthy Eating 相吻合。所以学生通过本

课的学习能复习所学习的食品方面的词汇,并根据自己的饮食习惯,合理搭配营养膳食。

这一课的课件采用了丰富的图片,并配以单词拼写,图文并茂,旨在帮助学生回顾所学单词。此外,这些单词还根据body-building food , energy- giving food, protective food 分为三大类,通过短文完型填空的方式,帮助学生理解不同食物的功用和合理搭配才能营养均衡的意义。

紧接着,让学生根据自己平时的饮食习惯,以小组讨论的方式,为自己制定一份营养的菜单。这时,要教授给学生表达自己观点的句型:Do you agree with...?

Yes, I agree, but I think.... Are you think...will be better? No, I don’t think so./ Sorry, I don’t agree with you. What do you think of...?

然后,教师组织学生进行总结汇报。请各小组派一名代表,把本组经过讨论后的食谱用英语介绍给全班同学。最后,教师做指导发言。四、利用资源,口语模仿

第四课时:

讲授这一课时,我安排了通过观看英文电影模仿学习英语口语的内容。第一步,听之前先让学生谈论四幅电影海报,猜猜发生了什么事,目的一是练习口语,二是使学生对接下来的电影内容充满期待;第二步是播放无字幕电影,看看真正发生了什么事请,比比谁猜得比较接近,那么观看的过程当中同学们就会带着求知欲去听,听的积极性就会调动起来了;第三步,观看完之后除了做好给出的题目外,要

求小组讨论出故事后面情节的发展,然后小组推荐一个同学将讨论内容口头表达出来;第四步,再观看一遍带英文字幕的电影,同学们读读原文,然后比较哪个小组表达的内容贴近原文并且用的表达方式最好,最后评出最佳听力和口语表达小组;

学生常见的需要纠正的地方有:

1、发音器官使用不当。例如美国英语的读法使用的发音器官位置一般比较接近口腔的后半部分,可是儋州学生习惯了方言的发音,常常使用口腔前半部分来发音。教师可以先示范good、list 、park 这三个单词的读法,然后引导学生使用正确的发音器官将其读出味道来。

2、元音不饱满。有的学生喜欢找到相应的汉字来代替所读的英语单词,这是不好的习惯。教师可以适当夸张地将boat 、loud 、mind 读出,让学生在发这些音节时将元音有意识地读出。

3、缺乏节奏感。英语是有节奏的语言。平时,教师要重视连读弱读,学习了解发音规则,引导学生先听,再跟音模仿。

总之,对于高中英语口语教学内容的安排,虽然教材里提供参考的语言材料并不多,可是起到了一个引领的作用,教师可以参考每单元的口语话题,结合自己平时教学的进度以及自己对学生和生活的观察,巧妙地选取口语教学话题,通过开展练习对话、观看电影、演讲、小报道、角色扮演等多种活动,提高学生的口语能力。另外,口语流利的重要标志是口头表达自动化,因此,教师要转变思想,从关注自己如何教英语转变到了关注学生如何学英语。创设语境,不断地引导学生进行口语实践活动,从而培养学生自主学习和创造性地学习,激

发学生内在的学习机制,最终使学生重视平时的口语训练,切实提高口语水平能力。
