Titanic
Titanic was the largest ship afloat with a gross tonnage of 46,328 tons.She was launched on 31 May 1911.Her maiden voyage was from Southampton to New York on 10 April 1912.
However,she was badly damaged when she hit an iceberg at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday 14 April 1912.There were 2,227 passengers and crew on board.She sank at 2:20 a.m. on Monday 15 April 1912.Only 705 people escaped and 1,522 pelple were drowned.The Cunard liner Carpathia heard the wireless distress calls.Some of the survivors were picked up at dawn on 15 April 1912.
