Inside and outside

There are two birds in the picture. One is in a cage, while the other stays outside. Both of them are admiring the other’s life.

The bird locked in the cage lives an unhappy life. Although it is given a full bowl of rice every day, it is bored to death. It dreams one day it can fly happily in the sky. On the other hand, the bird outside has a strong desire to get into the cage. It completely forgets the advantage of being free. Because it has to look for food by itself, and now it is hungry.

The message convey ed by the picture is instructive. Everything has two sides. When a person is in unfavorable condition, he should have positive attitude towards life and never lose sight of his own advantages.

Subject: Negotiation between Lenovo and IBM

Date: Nov. 7, 2004

Today, Lenovo and IBM had a negotiation in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. The participants in the negotiation are the managers of Sales Department, Human Resources Department, and Marketing Department of the two companies.

They talked about the potential of cooperation of the two companies in the field of high-tech computer products and the possibility of establishing a branch company of IBM in China. On the first problem, the two sides achieved an agreement: IBM will provide the most advanced technology, while Lenovo will take care of marketing and customer service.

However, on the second problem, the two sides did not reach any agreement. Therefore, on Dec. 20, 2004, the two sides will hold a second round of negotiation on this issue.

The graph shows the distribution of car accidents in a city during 2005. From the graph, we can see that there were two peaks of accidents in 2005. One was in March with the number of 35. The other was in August with the number of 42, which was the highest point of the distribution line. From August on, the number of car accidents had been decreasing till it reached the lowest point of the year in December.

There were several possible reasons for the distribution of car accidents. First, weather might have played an important role. Two peaks occurred in spring and summer, the two reasons which had most of the year’s rain. Driving tends to be more dangerous in rainy

days. Second, people might have been alerted by the high number of accidents in March and August, hence less and less accidents in later months.

House and Trees

The following pictures show us a sharp contrast between the man’s two living condition. In the first picture, the man’s house is enclosed by a lot of tall trees. Though the wind is strong, the man can enjoy his tea leisurely under the shadow of the tree. How comfortable the life is! One day, the man wants to enlarge his house, so he chops down all the trees. Flowers in Greenhouse

The two pictures illustrate how the flowers are struck to death when they are exposed to storm. When the flowers are in the greenhouse, they are healthy and good-looking. Though it is raining heavily outside, the flowers still grow strongly. But when they are taken outside the greenhouse, they can’t stand the attack of the storm and die.

With advertisement, the customers know the information about the latest products of the manufacturers. TV stations can make money by selling time to play the advertisements. Advertisement also provides manufacturers a good channel to sell their products.

The manufacturers should realize that if their products are of poor

quality, they can’t sell well. The TV stations should remember that too many advertisements will spoil the viewer s’enjoyment of their favorite programs.

Film is Giving Way to TV

According to the statistics of the graph, there are fewer and fewer people going to cinema now. on the other hand, more and more people watch TV at home. Maybe these two trends are connected in two ways.

First, now every house owns a television set. People can watch different programs on TV. TV stations also provide the latest films, so

there is no need to go to cinema any more.

Secondly, it is becoming more and more expensive to make films, and the tickets are very expensive. So people prefer to buy VCD or DVD, and watch films at home. That would be rather convenient and comfortable.

But there are still some people like to see films in the cinema. Maybe it is more entertaining to watch the films on a big screen.

The two pictures described one boy’s two different attitudes towards going to school. In the pictures on the left, the boy ran into the school happily yelling that “I am already a pupil”. He was so proud as well as excited to go to school that even his grandpa who was sending him to school looked pleased. On the contrary, as described in the picture on the right, the boy was very upset when he finished school. And he said “To be a pupil is just to do homework” sadly. Even his grandpa looked depressed.

There must be many such children who are excited to go to school at first but disappointed by the fact that schooling is so boring that the only thing they have to do is the homework.

It is very important to teach children how to treat the elderly. Because the way the child learns now is the way he/she treats his/her parents in the future. But still many mothers give the wrong idea to their children. The picture on the left show the selfishness of the mother completely, as she tells her son to eat the apple without giving any to his grandpa. On the contrary, many mothers teacher their

children in a proper way. The picture on the right describes a nice mother who asks her son to give the bigger apple to his grandma. Basically, mothers in our country can be divided into two sorts as described in the two pictures. It is clear who should be criticized. To treat the elderly well is our duty. Do not follow the example of the mother in the left picture.
