一、背诵的内容

进行背诵活动就必须选择好背诵材料。首先背诵的材料必须是学生能够理解的材料。其次学生是为了学习英语而背诵，就必须选择语言规范的材料。

1、重要的词汇和惯用语。主要是英语教材中需要掌握的单词、词组。

2、单个的英语句子：含哲理、欣赏价值的谚语、名人名言或其它重要的、语言优美的英语句

子。如Where there is a will，there is a way.（有志者，事竟成）；又如Seen from space，the earth looks like a huge blue water globe.就是一个重要的句子，它包含了三个知识点：过去分词短语作状语、space指宇宙空间前不加冠词以及多个修饰词修饰名词时的排列顺序。3、与日常生活密切相关的简短的对话，如电话对话、购物对话、问路对话、看病对话等。4、精彩的段落和篇章，可以是重要的、语言规范优美的课文段落或书面表达范文，也可以是报刊杂志上的短而精的文章。

二、背诵的好处1、背诵有利于词汇的情景记忆和理解。英语中有许多词汇，用法多变，词义繁多，所以记忆词汇尤其是单词是令许多中学生感到头疼的事情。单纯的硬记很难彻底掌握其用法，这时通过调动以往的背诵把单词放在具体的语言环境中去记忆，把原本枯燥的单词或词组通过上下文的衔接变的有趣起来，如此一来单词不仅容易记，而且记得牢，对词汇量的扩大大有裨益。例如：The doctor examined him carefully and found he had got a cancer. 通过医生看病这一语境，学生就很容易地记住了“examine”（检查，诊察）这个单词。

2、背诵有利于掌握习惯用语和固定句型。

英语中的习惯用语和固定句型俯拾皆是，学生应做有心人，将它们铭记于心。通过背诵掌握一定的习惯用语和固定句型，表达时才会妙语连珠、妙笔生花。类似于“The reas on why……is that……”等都是学生应该借鉴的范例。

3、背诵有利于培养语感。通过反复朗读与背诵，学生会加深对所学语法概念及其规律的理解与记忆，有利于熟悉语句结构，掌握地道的英语，并产生一定的语感。实践证明，一个大量诵读英语文章的学生，即使对句子不做语法分析，在解决单选、完形填空、短文改错等题型时，准确率也往往是很高的。熟能生巧，语感正是他们捕捉信息的巧妙感受的体现，这种特殊的感觉正来源于阅读和背诵的积累。

4、背诵有利于听说能力的提高。学生背诵前要听老师朗读或听录音并跟读，随着时间的推移，不但锻炼了听力，使听力水平迈上了一个新台阶，而且通过长期的口头表达或复述，会逐渐建立起自己的单词库、句型库，消除哑巴英语的困扰，使

口语水平实现质的飞跃。

5、背诵有利于写作能力的提高通过长期的背诵，学生在大脑中贮存了大量的核心词汇、经典佳句，在写作时对词句的运用也就能做到信手拈来，驾轻就熟。

三、背诵的形式1、个人独立背诵：是课下背诵的主要方式，适合背诵各种形式的英语内容。2、小组合作背诵：是课堂上在老师指导下进行背诵的一种重要方式。学习中除单个的句子外，其它的材料均可以采取小组合作背诵的方式，因为这种方式可以使学生处于兴奋愉悦的状态，从而避免枯燥乏味，让学生表演对话就是一种常见的合作背诵方式。不属于对话类型的材料也可以采取合作背诵方式，如：两个人进行英汉口头互译，即一个学生将一句汉语，另一个学生接着把它翻译成英语，或者一个学生将一句英语，另一个学生马上把它翻译成汉语。这种方式对于培养学生临场口译能力很有益处的。

四、背诵的方法及策略

背诵和学习过程中的其它活动一样，也需要讲究方法和策略。如果对背诵活动缺乏深入的思考和准备，简单、机械地朗读、背诵，不但不能发挥背诵应有的作用，而且浪费时间，打击学生学习的积极性和信心。因此，英语学习者应掌握以下背诵方法和策略：

1、根据音标及常见的读音规则来背诵单词。首先，可用音节来记忆单词。读单词的时候，不妨一个音节一个音节地念清楚，然后按音节顺序拼出单词，这样，即使一些乍看令人生畏的长单词也能很自然地拼写出来。其次，可根据字母组合的基本读音规则来记忆单词。在学习过程中，我们要留心观察，善于总结发音规律。

2、根据关键词背诵句子。在背诵的英语句子中，一般都含有一两个语言点，我们可以以这些语言点为关键词来帮助背诵。例如：It was under attack for 900 days，but the people of the city never gave in.就可以以其中的两个知识点under attack和give in 为关键词来帮助记忆此句。

3、根据句子主干背诵长句。对于较长的句子，可以提取主干，然后补充细节。如：

It soon become clear that the straight part of the chance chang when the sun’s position chang.句子的主干为:It become clear that…,在that 引导的主句从句中,又有一个when 引导的时间状语从句,清理句子结构,你就会记住什么时间、什么地点、什么事情。

4、根据大意要点背诵篇章结构。

对于段落或篇章,先要摘清文中讲了哪些方面的内容,把握句子之间的联系，然后抓住要点并扩展开去,联想细节,补充内容,背诵便可以顺利完成。犹如作画,先构思好整幅画,然后用墨,一挥而就。例如，议论文常常按照论点—论据—总结或者论据—论点---总结的顺序来写，学生在背诵时可想一想：作者的论点是什么？是如何论证的？有哪些论据？这些论据是如何排列的？把握句子之间的联系，不仅能够帮助学生快速记忆文章，而且有利于培养学生的逻辑思维能力。

另外，在背诵时还应注意要实行过度复习。学生经过努力，能够背诵精选的材料，表明暂时完成了背诵任务，但极易遗忘。所以背诵之后，切不可终止读记、背诵活动，还必须再进行几次读记背诵练习，这些练习就叫过度复习。
