According to a survey conducted recently, 85.8% of the high school students are not satisfied with their handwriting. However, they have no intention to improve it for various reasons.

More than half of those students think that computers can help them with their writing and therefore, there is no need for them to practise their handwriting. Another group of students, accounting for 35%, share the opinion that they are too busy with their studies to spare time to improve their handwriting. 14% of the students put little value on the importance of handwriting.

However, I firmly believe that handwriting is an important aspect of first impression. Poor handwriting may lead people to believe you are not serious or hardworking. Therefore, I have made great efforts to make my handwriting nice. Practicing handwriting three times a week helps me to be more patient and careful in everything I do. It’s true that modern technology may bring us some convenience, yet it is no excuse for poor handwriting. I hope more teenagers will attach importance to handwriting.

Firstly I’d like to talk about the sports we young people in China like. According to a recent study, almost half of the teenagers surveyed enjoy playing football and 30% like swimming. A quarter of them prefer cycling, while some 10% would rather go jogging.

Youths in China are indeed involved in a variety of sports, because we believe sports are fun and are an indispensable part of a healthy lifestyle. Having regular health checkups is also a good idea, as we can find out potential problems and get proper advice from doctors in time.

We are what we eat. It is essential that we should have a balanced diet, with more vegetables, fruits and dairy products instead of junk food. In my opinion, it is a balanced diet along with regular exercise that contributes to a healthy lifestyle.
